Installing a A-Spec kit with cracked bumper?
Installing a A-Spec kit with cracked bumper?
Long story short, I was driving at night in an older neighborhood that had high curbs, tried to do a u-turn and the bumper scraped/cracked on the bottom.
I want to put a A-Spec kit on the car once winter is over, I was just wondering if i had to get the bumper fixed/replaced or if i could just but the a-spec on it still.
If you guys have any suggestions on how to fix it, it would get great also, you can't see the damage from normal view, just when you actually get down and look under it. It's not too bad right now but I don't want it to get worst

thanks for any help in advance
also the car is an 07 Type S if it makes a difference

Not sure where the type-s aspec mounts, but either way I suggest that you at least reinforce it from the inside to prevent it from getting worse. Luckly it's not in a visible spot and will be covered with the aspec lip once you get it.
When the weather is warm, I would place either a piece of wood or metal on the underside and use 4 screws, 2 on each side of the crack to penetrate the bumper cover and pull it together, back in alignment, then spread JB Weld on the top of the crack. When it hardens you can remove the wood/metal and spread more JB Weld all over the top of the cover. This will at least make the crack secure and tie it into the tab. If you wanted to finish the bottom, that could be done also with other material, leave it as-is, or add more JB Weld if you don't mind the dark color.
Years ago on one of my cars I caught the front air dam on something and noticed it was cracked, @ 12" long. Removed, did the JB Weld on the inside and it’s been fine for years and no one would notice it’s been repaired.

The A-Spec will cover it. That clip hole near the crack will be used with the lip.
Only time and your driving style will tell, but I would definitely suggest securing the crack so that it doesn't eventually ride up the bumper.
Just a word of caution, you WILL need to drill a hole on the right side of that tab (the crack you have begins on the left side), so you may have added stress due to the screw and bolt that will be in that newly drilled hole.
Patch up/secure that crack and install the lip. I think you'll be okay as long as you don't hit any more curbs.
