Question Installing rear deck lid lip spoiler?

For anyone who has purchased a lip spoiler and installed it to your TL. Do you buy the OEM or aftermarket that is an OEM replica. Also how do they install, will the automotive adhesive tape work fine enough or do you have to bolt it down. I want to install one on my car, but not to excited about drilling holes in the trunk. Aren't the side dent protects or some of the TLs stuck on by just double sided adhesive tape. THanks!

I actually just bought an aftermarket replica from E-Bay with the double sided tape. I wasn't sure at first, but I read a thread somewhere and he said that he's had his on his car for about 4 years with just the tape and its been fine. I put mine on 3 days ago, took me about a half hour. Clean the trunk like hell, you don't want any dirt/grease under that tape. Measure twice, stick once! Good luck!

i have a Wing on mine not decklid.... BUT have installed my friends decklid spoiler with the tape and no issues, also InfamousLink has it with just the tape and no issues either...

if u buy a replica just double check the tape if it looks durable then u already kno if not then just add another line of 3M on it

I have the type s decklid spoiler on mine and i used 3M double sided tape. its been over a year now and its still on strong, even at high constant speeds. No need to drill, just make sure the spoiler fits flush when taping down.

There is absolutely no need to drill a decklid spoiler onto the trunk. The 3M tape provided with the spoiler is a very very strong adhesive tape. But to answer your question on the tape left behind if it comes off, yes, it will leave a sticky residue, but nothing a little "Googone" can't fix. That stuff works wonders.

Thread revival? ANy DIY's on this? I'm not afraid to drill just as long as I am instructed. I searched google, here and cannot find anything for the Type-S deck lid. If anyone has done this please let me know. A bodyshop quoted me 200 for install... is that right?!?
