Installing the Injen CIA?

I’m interested in buying an Injen CIA but I was wondering how difficult is the installation?
I did a search and all I found was a thread relating to the 2nd Gen TL which required or suggested removing the front bumper.
Anyone do the install themselves? If so, how long did it take and what all did in entail?
Thanks

Check out K&N's instructions on installing their Typhoon Kit. Should help give you direction.

Thanks for the link.
In step 12 it says to "remove the lower spoiler flap". I wonder how this affects those of use who have the Aspec spoiler kit. I wonder if this step requires you to remove the front spoiler….. Anyone know?
Thanks again

No, you don't have to remove the spoiler. I installed mine from the tire well as described in the K&N directions.

I didn't know Injen made a CIA whatever that may be. Must be top secret.

Yeah - if you install a CIA it's required that you get 5% tint all around.

i installed my injen cai without removing the bumper. i did take out the bolt that connects the driver side of the front bumper to the fender. it gave me some more room.

The injen intake is a simple install. You just have to remove the front bumper, which is a whole bunch of clips and 4 screws. Thats about it

I have one for sale brand new for 200.00 shipped to yoru door, if your interested.

which CAI is the one of choice, i.e. best quality/best overall gains, not peak hp, although if they are one in the same, that's cool

Right now the TOP is Injen...haven't really seen anything on AEM. I think with Injen intakes however you have to reset your ECU every month.

If thats the case, I guess I'll just keep waiting then.
Wasn't Comptech supposed to come out with one?

You don't have to reset your ECU every month with an Injen CAI. That's crazy talk! :killer:

Where'd you hear that?

i beg to differ. the Injen one doesn't look that great to me. if you look at the dynos for the Injen and the aem, the aem is clearly better as the hp and torque gains are all across the rev band. while the knjen fluctuates and even dips below factory at certain spots. i can't account for either of them as i do not own either but if we are deciding based on manufacturer dynos then the aem is the clear winner. also the injen dyno looks a bit fishy to me. the max hp and torque seem to be well below what TOV dyno'ed a stock 6MT to be at. i realize that dynos vary depending on condition but i would figure they post something that would resemble the least power loss scenario. the aem base dyno however was consistent with TOV stock 6MT results. it would be interesting if some members actually got their injen and aem then dyno'ed their car to find out the results.

I beg to differ to your response. My vehicle was used for the testing and prototyping of the Injen and AEM intake back in 2003. The injen intake makes more hp than the AEM. Injen uses a dynojet for their dyno testing opposed to AEM using a dynopack, which yields about 8-12hp more to the wheels on any vehicle tested on the these dyno's. The AEM intake was great, but the Injen sounded better and proved to feel better in the low of the torque band. Aem has been known to tweak their dyno sheets to make their product look better, and have customers justify paying the extra money for pretty much the same results you can get from Injen, or if not better with Injens. I sold my AEM prototype to someone on this board last year when I sold my TL, I cant remember his name, but he also, took teh AEM off and put the Injen CAI on afterwards.
Also, if AEM and Injen used my vehicle for testing in October of 2003. Injen released their product 2 weeks later. Why has AEM waited a year to come out with it?? Their designing sucked, i know all about it.
I just recently bought another TL and guess what, It's got the Injen intake under the hood.

If anyone is interested, i have 2 TL Injen intakes for sale. They are brand new, in box. $200 shipped to your door.

Sorry, I am keeping mine. Just like all the stock parts I have removed.

However, I will sell the 17" OEM wheels and the BS tires that have 6000 miles on them. But, I don't think anyone here wants those.

No, you don't. You never have to 'reset' it.

I would be very surprised if there was much difference between any of the three power wise. They are all aluminum tubes with a low-restriction cone filter on the end. The K&N has some nice features: it can be run as a short ram, it has an extra mounting point, and I like the way the PCV connection is done without removing the factory hard pipe.

Advertised gains are about the same for Injen and K&N. I expect AEM to be about the same - despite their big promises. No one has seen a dyno sheet from AEM, just presentation graphics. For that matter, no one has seen a production product from them. When I called them in July they said the TL CAI had just completed development and been sent to production.

I installed my injen and it was actually very easy. I pulled the front bumper, and don't see how any of you could do it from the wheel well......Pulling the bumper is a cinch....
