Installing 50W 6000K HID kit.

I'm going to be installing a 50W HID 6000K HID kit this weekend (maybe even start tonight. From everything I have looked at, I will have to remove the headlights, which in turn will also need to remove the bumpers. Oh what fun. But otherwise should be a fairly simple install. and the light output is WAY more than OEM (3100-lumens for stock and these are rated at 5300-lumens).

Any way I have hooked them up breifly, MAN they look great and easily twice the light (with a more white HUE) I have hooked them up into a spare headlight setup I have and they look awesome. I will try to get some before and after pics as best I can. But if basically put, my OEM hids looked like Halogens next to these...

In any case, I will prob attempt to start tonight, if anyone in the West Linn(Oregon) area has expertease in body part removal and would like to help...Let me know...

Just wondering, where are you planning to install the HID lights? To replace the orignal HID, or to replace the fog lights?

Replacing the stock D2S 35W (4300K) HIDs with new bulbs and Ballasts...50W...

Later I will then swap the 9006 Driving lights for 35W HID 6000Ks too...thats easy.

Is it much brighter with the 50W ballasts as compared with the stock 35W one?

If you do a search on ebay (Not where i got mine...) for 50W VHO kit

you can see the difference!!!

And yes as I said its HUGE! Also I think it will make the high beams more effective, they seemed a little weak to me. But then I'm a light freak!

I remember a guy on hidplanet mod's denso/kioto ballasts for 80 each including the ballasts. You will also have an adjustable tuning knob to turn up/down the wattage. I wonder how these things hold up and if you can just buy the ballast alone and use your factory bulbs.

I think quattrodude is referring to this HID kit...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VHO-5...spagenameZWD1V

Keep us updated on the reliabilty of this type of kit. Personally, I would never install a 50w HID kit because it will be blinding drivers in front of you and there might be a ton of glare due to the amount of light output and light color when it's raining or foggy.

Did you check to make sure your wiring and protection system (fuses/breakers) would handle the increased load. You are now passing over 4 amps as opposed to less than 3 amps of continuous current.

Here in Virginia, these may not be legal, though I don't know for sure.

that seems like alot of money to increase something that is already considered great light output
i have 6000K D2S's and 6000K 9006 HID fogs and i really cant imagine having much more output....

i'd be worried about electrical problems almost doubling your wattage like that.

i'd love to see some pics tho!

Ok, I guess I'm stupid, it says i cannot post attachements, so I assume that means I cannot post a picture?

I love them, I have not had anyone flash me, and they are nice extra pure white with a very slight tint of blue.

I have had them for 2 days, I would like to find another TL around here so tha I could find a dark street and compare.

I have a bunch of pictures I took, and a good comparison of the 35w vs 50w...Just if I could post it...

It's easy to post pictures, but you have to get a host.

They really are bright, but make sure you won't melt the inside of the projector, I've heard that some people melted the reflective layer on the bowls because of the higher heat generated. Def. post some pictures!
