Installation questions for those of you who have used Di-noc on your interior
I have been a guest on this site for quite sometime, actively using the search function to find the answers to any questions I might have. However I have encountered one that I am unable to find an answer to:
For those of you who have wrapped the aluminum trim around the console in Di-noc Carbon as well as the door panels and the black center console portion, what is the best way to go about doing this? I know for the long silver pieces the best option is to remove them, but what about the fake black carbon print around the gear shifter? Is there a simple way to remove it or do you simply lay it over top working very carefully with an xacto knife? Same question for the silver and carbon portions of the door panels.
Thanks fellas! I plan on embarking on this soon and I wanted to know the simplest route.

you have to take everything apart piece by piece and wrap them individually. it's the only way to get clean cuts/lines...not to mention it's A LOT easier to do it once everything is seperated.
there are only a few screws holding everything together...it may seem intimidating at first, but it's really not a big deal. same thing for the door trim too.

I think people do it the long way (good way) and the short way. And both turn out nice.
I can say from experience that if you can wrap the dinoc around a surface, do it. It will hold up a lot better then just laying it on top and tucking the edges.
So the silver pieces on the console I would remove. The silver pieces on the door can be removed but not entirely. The carbon fiber by the shifter can also be removed.
I would remove and wrap any piece I could.

Thanks SharksBreath! Ironically enough you were the person I really wanted to talk to about this, your interior looks great!
So basically Just take it all apart...okay here goes nothing haha. Anywhere to get instructions on how to do this? Or is it pretty self explanatory once you get the long pieces of aluminum trim removed? I.e. are there clips/screw for the center console or something that are easily exposed underneath?

yeah once you remove the silver trim pieces, it'll reveal the couple of screws you need to take out.
take off silver trim peices by prying them up from the bottom and then yank them out. then take out cup holder area. then take out gear cover area. then take out cubby door area.
reinstall everything in the reverse order. just take your time...you'll be fine.
use a hair dryer to make the CF vinyl pliable, then wrap each piece seperately. use a sharp razor blade to make your cuts. press...stretch...stick. the CF is a lot easier to work with once it's been heated up.
maharajamd will probably post some DIY instructions below for ya.

Now dumb question here...
I would do this only because after 8 years of use some of the aluminum pieces are all ugly and nicked up...
But why would you, a type-s, do it?

It really depends on the pattern of the weave but for the most part CF things look really good. As for the Di-Noc, the stuff looks great and seems to be pretty durable.

^no. i've tried different methods of clearing this dinoc stuff and it always comes out rough. i like the matte look, and if i took a better picture...you would see that it's pretty shiny.
i do use aerospace303 on it every now and then and it gives it a nice gloss shine.

Cleared... :/

Personally I didn't like it cleared either.
