I'm Thinking About an Upgrade!!

So guys I found someone to take my 2003 TL-S off me for $8k. It has 155k on it and I wanted to get cash for it now while I can. I really loved that car and I am definatly considering an 04+ Since you guys have driven them for awhiles I am looking for your input.

Any major mechanical issues I should be aware of?
A certain year I should stay away from?
Approx how much should I be paying for an 04, 05, 06 (prob not spending enough for an 07 haha) I want to keep it under $15k.
This is my daily driver so I want an auto.... I have a WS6 M6 for the weekends :devilgrin
I also wanna do light performance mods specifically the suspension. I might stay away from exhaust this time because my exhaust was loud and it droned, so what mods do you recommend and what websites should I look at?

Thanks for the help and if you have anything to add let me know I appreciate it.

EDIT: Also what type of gas do you use. Right now I run premium in the Type S do the regular TL's need premium as well?? I hope not

Look in the 3G Garage and you will see some of the common problems in the 04/05 models. I dont think you will find an 07 under 15. Look for a late build 05 or 06. Also, if you do a search between the model years, there is a good breakdown of what is different.

Our vendors sell suspension parts so you should be covered there. Take a journey into that subforum and there is plethora of info over there.

Premium gas.

as an 03 owner you know of the trans probs that were never cured-
that same problem followed into 04 and 05...a CPO covered car from the dealer with its 100 trans warranty is worth extra cost

stick with an 05 or higher, the 04 transmissions are a hit or a miss. Also the 05 had some improvements to the leather and some other smaller details. Just make sure when you get a car, look at the dash and make sure it's not starting to crack, fading slightly is normal. A little 303 protectant and it'll be restored. Stick with a CPO car and you'll be on your way.

It will be advertised as "Certified Previously Owned" by the Acura dealer.

premium....youll get better mpgs with 91 than you will with 89. In the end, you actually save money suing premium.
