I'm a Newbie-Black Pearl or Anthracite color

In a few months I will be purchasing a 04 Tl 6sp. I am setting my wife crazy because I am always asking her whick looks color better when we drive by the dealership. I am going back and forth between the Anthracite and the Black Pearl. I think the Black Pearl looks better but I am worried that the paint may be too soft. I am scared that it may scratch too easily. If anyone has a black pearl 04 Tl pls put your opinion about your experiece about your car color. Also, are black cars that hard to kep clean. Or if anyone has their opinion between Anthracite and the Black Pearl, pls post. You will be helping me a great deal

I just got anthracite after having 3 black cars and all I can say is it's really nice, and black is a pain to keep clean. The anthracite is really pretty, and easy to maintain.

Both are terrific colors for this car. Based on unscientific observation, I think I see more TLs both on the road and on the lots in silver, then anthracite, so if you're looking exclusivity, that might not be your color. I think this model TL looks its best in NBP, that was my choice. I get a lot feedback that saying black really accentuates the styling lines. Yes, it takes more effort to keep it clean, but I'm ok with that. Either choice will make a great color for you, good luck.

Agreed with UMIN! Black is just all around stylish and makes the car look worth more than it is. I was between the same decision as you a few months ago, and was ready to get the Anthracite until I saw a NBP with the 18's in a showroom. It looked so sweet. I changed my mind and Iam glad I did because the silver and anthracite I see all over the place. Too common! It is hard to keep clean however!

I don't want silver because I have a silver 03 Accord. I def want something different like the Anth or black. Never owned a black car before that's why I want peoples opnion on it. I like to keep a car clean so I dont mind washing it once or twice a week

Right there with you...I was actually driving along a black one the entire drive to work this morning. I was pretty jealous cause it looked really, really good....then I saw my WDP in the reflection of an office building I was driving by and I was again content with my choice.

I think the black looks hot, but I like the contrast between the anthracite and the black trim pieces. Also, its easy to maintain and always looks nice.

I have an Accord in Signet Silver Metallic/Quartz, which is similar to Anthracite. I love the color and it really hides dirt well, so I ordered my TL in Anthracite/Ebony.

I was thinking of going with a Quartz interior again, but I love the contrast of the Ebony interior and the way it makes the metal trim stand out.

I have the NBP and love it. To me nothing looks better than a shiny black car. Besides with the black you can get any color interior you want. Get the black you won't regret it.

I would just have to look at my NBP to have it scratch, and actually yeterday I was at the dealer picking up my anthracite TL, and they had a RSX in the showroom, built in Japan, with NBP, and I was admiring the paint, and just rubbed it slightly, and under the bright lights in the showroom, I could see scratches(swirlmarks) that I caused just rubbing the paint. That's why I gave up on black although it looks awesome, it's just too hard to keep looking nice. There is no way you can keep the car looking like it did the day you bought it, I tried, never driving the car in the rain etc., garage, cover, and I still ended up with swirl marks all over the finish...enough already....anthracite for me!!!

I have anthracite and love it. It doesn't show dirt or dust very much and contrasts nicely with both the black trim and the matte silver grill. Also it looks great with the quartz - which is my favorite interior trim. That said, if you are willing to really keep the car clean and Zainoed (or equiv) the NBP is awesome. Just a little lack of care, however, and the black is just ok.
Also, anthracite is one of the most popular choices, if that makes a difference.

I'm on my third black car, 04 TL NBP/ Ebony, 6MT, Navi, Lip Spoiler. I love the "reflecting properties" that Black has, the pearl effect is a plus. I don't mind keeping my TL clean. If I do get light scratches, 3M has some good products that will take them out, which have worked fine with my other cars( '86 Monte Carlo SS /w $5000 Black Glaserite paint job, and Black '96 Trans Am 6MT). Good Luck! I'm sure you'll enjoy your TL either way.

I have the Anthracite but it was definitely a hard decision. I saw a black one at my gym with super dark tint and chrome wheels and I was having buyer's color remorse. If I had it to do again I would probably go black, but I would buy a California Duster and I wouldn't touch it with anything but Zaino and cotton towels.

Go to any car store (Pepboys, Autozone, etc.) and go into the wax section. Look for a light brown bottle that says "3M Swirl Remover." It removes the swirl marks that will eventually appear over time..as you wash your car more and more.

3M Products

I use 3M Finesse-It II and Perfect-It product line. I don't know if this will work, but here's a link that I found to some 3M products.

After having a Jet Black 850ci, I swore up and down I would nver have another black car....then NBP came along, the fact that is actually a metallic black with blue fleck, and has a harder finish than flat black german cars sold me....it just gives me excuse to wash it often

I love my NBP, would not have any other color. I am going to try some of the products suggested such as the Zainos. You do have to wash the black frequently but I do at least once a week so its no problem. Did think about the anthracite when I was making my decision but I have no regrets....

Dont get the black. Sure it looks great when it is clean but it is a dirt magnet. The paint on newer cars is also weaker. I have a 02 TLS, it has always been garaged but I made the mistake of drying it with a Chamois after washing and even the Chamois caused mini scratches (swirling effect), I was quite upset. I have ordered a 04 TL and chose the Anthracite which looks almost as good.

wdp kills black and any other tl color. you will have strangers getting whiplash looking at you as you go by. people will give you the thumbs up. people will stand around your car and stare at it. you wont see swirl marks. it looks expensive. you really should consider wdp. if your dealership has a wdp next to nbp or anthracite [and I mean NEXT to it] you will see the difference. it is amazing the compliments I get by total strangers with wdp/parchment. but it is your choice. the only downside is that eventually between the numerous bouts of precipitation we have been getting wdp looks like crap until you wash it. if you look at your dealers lot though unless they was everyday you will see that nbp and anthracite look like feces unless they are pristine.

I've gotta Anthracite....wow is it a slick color for the TL. It seems like my TL was made to be in Anthracite, i get a lot of compliments and it shines like black at night and it looks like a metalic grey during the day. Really sexy.
