Question I'm a Idoit. I need your help!!

Acurazine members,

I posted a few months ago that my 2004 TL has a blown headlight. I need to buy new set of of HID Bulbs. So I am wondering if you all can suggest a site were I can buy them. Please include a link directly to the bulb. I want to spend less the 100 bucks on both. I've been driving with my one working light and am running my fogs so that I can at least have visability on both sides. Please help, i'm not to good with buying stuff for my TL online, and am afraid I will buy the wrong thing. As far a installing I will attempt to remove my bumper to install these bulbs once I get them. Thanks for all you help.

The bulbs usually dont go bad before the ballasts, I'd check to see if the fuses are good and then check to make sure that the ballast and ignitor are good.

What fuse am I checking??
And how do I check the ballast?? Do I still have to take off the bumper to do that??

swap the bulbs left to right and see if they work the same
Bulb life is about 2000 hours of use and they start to dim and color shift
Wearout between 2500 and 3000 is normal

Cheap bulbs may not last long- cant tell where they were made of what quality materials

If you get moisture inside the headlight lens- that gets down and kills ballast
Must fix before replacing bulbs or ballast

Yeah it's super funny that idiot is spelled wrong -_-

TEEHEE

Anywho I got the Kaixen's and enjoy them but there is a bit of burn-in time before you get the correct output from the bulb.. so go with those!

Fuse should be in the fuse box and relays are under the hood. To test the ballast you'd have to have the bumper and the headlights off the car. Swap the ballast and ignitor over from the good headlight to the bad one and see if it works, if it does then your fuses/relays are good but either the ballast, ignitor or both are bad on the headlight that is giving you trouble.

At this point take the ignitor from the bad headlight and swap it with the good ignitor/ballast, turn on the headlight, if the headlight work then both your ignitors are good but one of the ballast is bad. Repeat the same process with the ballast.

The most typical scenario is water getting into and shorting out the ballast.
