I'm confused about this...
Gas mileage...i know everyones sick of hearing it and ive searched it and everything...but after i fill up the car, after 20 miles, you can already see the needle about to move and im not stepping on it or anything. The car gets between 20-22 mpg with mostly city driving which is fine, but i notice the range is really not that far...i can usually squeeze about 300 miles out of my CL which i believe has a 17.2 gallon tank where the TL is so close to empty with 240ish miles. The TL has a 17 gallon tank right? The fuel system was cleaned by the dealer and the car runs good...but this is wierd to fill up quite a bit. Its got 35k miles. Another thing i noticed is that I usually hit half a tank in the CL after about 150 or more miles whereas the TL is usually between 105-130 miles. I know it doesnt matter THAT much but its kind of wierd.
if you drove freeway the halfway point would come around 150-200 miles, if driven nice
also, when the car says its empty it actually has a few more gallons in it. so that could be another 20-40 miles added to your total.

LOL .... I just got my TL last month ... and moving from a CIVIC to a TL :-p I have the exact same issue :-p It's like gas needle is not DRIVER FRIENDLY hahahaha
I get between 280 - 310 miles on a full tank till the yellow light comes on. what about you ?

Use your MID. If I drive suburban (20-25 mph) I get 18-19 mpg. Highway driving (60-75 mph) I get 30-31 mpg. I don't drive in city (stop and go traffic). I have an 04 TL with 64K miles. Now that it is getting cold here in the Mid-west it will probably go down a little.
It all comes down back to maintenance of your car! Use premium fuel, change your filters every 30K, make sure your tires are properly inflated and as well how you drive your car and where!

its ridiculous...we only had it for a month and a half. everythings been checked out and whatever work was needed, was done. Always premium fuel and i dont gun it all the time. Then again, my mom does do stop and go to work for about 5 miles...but when i drive it, i usually go further/highway. I mean its not TERRIBLE but i guess im just used to my own car

I'm not sure and don't quote me on this, but I'm going to say I believe it's the way the gas tank was made. I've noticed that in my tl and this was the only thing i can come up with. Anyone care to correct me?
20-22mpg is 20-22mpg. The guage doesn't matter, the mileage is great for a TL in city driving. How soon the guage moves off of F has more to do with when the pump shuts off than anything else. I've squeezed an extra few gallons in after shutoff and I've gone 80 miles before the needle began to move, it doesn't mean anything.
I've noticed that I can go much longer before the needle moves if I use Shell vs Chevron. MPG is identical but the pump shutoff point is different. The shell nozzle allows a little more fuel before shutting off.
Where you're at, at half a tank means nothing. The guage is rarely linear. All that matters is your mpg and how many miles per full tank averaged out over several full tanks.
The float in the tank can be different, resistance values can be different. I would guess that you can go longer than the rest after the light comes on. I did not see it mentioned how many gallons it holds on a fill up.
