The thing is that your lights are approved by the DOT... so anything you change then makes them not approved. However most inspection places probably wont give a flying ____ about your smoked stuff. Just take it to a local yokel place for inspections.

i worry more about the cops than i do the DOT approval...and the inspection...because i think it was lokius who mentioned that you can legally clear ur headlights, because they have to either be a blinking amber or a blinking white light. im wondering if there are any similair rules for new jersey

You have to have either amber turn bulbs or amber reflectors in your front headlights and in the rear the same.... in the rear you can have clear turn signals like the 02-03 tails, but you need amber turns... some cops may be a dick and give you a ticket. i got one for having xenon turns in the back

I think the main thing is that none of this stuff is going to get you pulled over from 65 mph on the highway, but if you are pulled over for speeding or something, having modifications to your car that are obvious are going to prompt them to look for more things, after the fact.

Just smoke it. It's your car, enjoy it. The worst that can happen if you have to pay a fine and then you can re-evaluate it later if it becomes a problem. Meanwhile enjoy the car, that is my philosophy.
