Question I noticed these problems with the 04

Hey, wassup,
I was test driving an 04 TL the other day and i noticed that it tends to stray to the right, on the highway, and you have to keep your hands on the wheel in order to maintain a straight position. My 03 TLP isn't like this. Also, i was disappointed to find out that there are no foglights on the car!!! How do you guys feel about the foglights... and have you noticed how it strays? Its a beautiful car, i love it, but its these things that are holding me back from buying it... more so the fact that my car is 03 and the trade in price would be garbage!

I believe the foglights are next to the bi-xenon headlights in the light housing....so the TL has foglights but just not located on the bottom front spoiler like you're probably accustomed to seeing.

During my test drives, I noted no substantial straying or pulling to either side. Perhaps the TL you test drove had an alignment problem. Additionally, one must consider the arc of the road for drainage which might cause a little pull to the right but not too noticeable.

Straying to the right is an alignment problem. Nothing else.

There are no fog lights in Canada as we have DRL's. I've had fog lights on many cars and for me they border on useless, especially now with the bi-xenon headlights.

Mine doesn't stray with my hands off the wheel so it is particular to the alignment of the specific car you tested.

Our friends from the North sure have some silly laws....well, coming from someone who lives in the States that is.

You guys don't get all the color combos and options up there...that's sort of odd coming from the States. What would happen if I bought a TL here in the States and then moved to Canada for some reason? Would my car have to meet all of the Canadian laws like no foglights and must have DRL's?

Just curious...

Maybe,

As mentioned, for drainage purposes, roads are usually crowned thus slope to the left and right. If your in the right lane, it is very common for a car to drift right due to the right slope. Now, if your in the left lane with left slope and she still comes right, you probably have an alignment or tire issue.

Many asphalt roads have miner ruts from heavy trucks and hot climates. This can make a very tight/nice car feel like crap due to it tracking from side to side. Tire widths/tread patterns also can make a huge difference in the way a cars steering "feels" on different road surfaces.

Just my 2C's

03AcuraTL,

Have you seen this yet? You may change it in the future to make foglight fit your needs. Replacement Fog Bulbs?

Try to drive you 03TLP onto the same roads and test-drive another 04TL. The car's alignment should not be so bad like that.

I'm glad you're not my doctor, or mechanic, or dentist, or contractor, or anyone else I invest money into to make reasonable decisions. :p

03AcuraTL- $50 says it was the road, as mentioned above.

Nah man, i don't bet, and anyway, i did try with my 03 TL... no problemo!!! of course, it did stray to the right after about 2 minutes but not as quickly as the 04... its either a batch problem or acura's attempt to make the new car's handling sportier.

It's neither! Just take it in to dealer for alignment.

Hello, and welcome to the forum

Mine drives as straight as an arrow, and the fog lights are integrated.

Hope to see you as a new TL owner soon.
