I new it would happen!
The day that I dreaded has come. I knew it was going to happen. The day has come after owning the 3G Tl for just over a year. Before this day, it started slowly, a few months ago, about once a week for a while. Then it came to twice a week, and then to three times, and then every day. And now I see them multiple times a day. Its disgusting. On Friday I saw 11 of them. The worst day I could have imagined! Imagine 11 of them in two hours on the road! What a DAY!
Every body and their uncles are buying TLs and I see black ones, anthracite onces, and silver ones and white ones. Their getting so common that I don't get any second looks anymore. Heck I'm not sure I get any first looks any more.
Oh the shame of it all. The honeymoon is over...
But its still just as fun to drive as it was on day one. Heck on some days, I cruise at 80km/h on a 100 km/h highway so that I don't reach my destination too fast! I am sure I have annoyed a few people by doing that, but I can't help it. The car is just too nice and too fun to drive.

It's funny. My neighborhood doesn't seem to have any. I never see one. But I have a friend that lives in a nieghborhood with a lot of yuppies. He tells me he sees them all the time. I guess I just don't fit in where I'm at.

If you think there are a lot now, after they've been out only about a year, wait for 3 more years....
One positive: The popularity, combined with limited availability at the dealer lots, translates into high resale value.

I have not seen many around here at all... Who knows when it will catch up here.. There are around 700,000 people in Edmonton I think.

I love cars!
The popularity will SINK the resale value. It's the law of supply and demand. If there are plenty of TLs around then buying them will be east but selling yours at the highest price will not be so easy. It's like the Ford Expedition. Love 'em to death, but there must be 2 million of them on the road so you can pick em up older and used for 5 or 6 grand these days. Because they're so popular.

Yea, I notice more and more around here also. I enjoyed the TSX I would see them very rarely. The TL I see 2-3 a day. I don't really mind.
Get the a-spec and you will be exclusive again :-D

What do you guys think you're driving... a Ferrari? This is not an exclusive car, a collectors item or any of that. It's just your average middle class sports sedan.
And the same reason you bought your own 3G TL is the same reason these new people are buying theirs.
Will it affect the resale value? Maybe not. Like fast-tl said: it's supply and demand. If enough people get a chance to drive one and like it, it gets more popular. That drives up the resale value. If Acura floods the market by building too many of them, that drives down the resale value. It's just a balancing game.
PS: One of co-workers will be trading in his 1998 BMW 323 for a 3G TL. As many 3 series have found out, the 3G TL is a much better deal (bang for the buck) than the 3 series. He also realized that the BMW name isn't what it used to be.

I'm suprised that people still feel this way about TL's. My father works for Honda and tells me they put out anywhere from 7000 - 8500 Tl's per month and they are still behind. Those TL's are only sold in the US and Canada (more so in US, of course) so with all the news about how great Acura is doing in sales, I just don't get how people can even think that they will ever be part of some elite group. if you want to feel special, buy an NSX. (I have not seen one of those on the street, only saw one or two at a Honda open-house.)
It's a great car so you know everyone and their mama will be out to get one. Just as Acura planned for the car. Me personally, it will have to do till Acura comes out with an M3 killer. =o) (Engine and performance only, IMHO I don't think BMW will ever come close to the interior feel and functionality of the 3G TL's )
Anyway.. just my opinion.

i have the desert mist/parch. combo. talk about being rare. in the last year, i've saw only 4 desert mist tl's. i think the car looks really rich in this color. i see a ton of accords in this color, but no tl's. i love the pearl white, but my last 2 cars where that color and i wanted something different. don't worry about the resale value. it's going to be one of the highest in 5 years.

I don't see many in the NYC area, but when I do I love to check them out and see what I look like from different angles! The car looks even better moving than it does when it's parked.
I've had mine since March and I love it more every time I drive it.

If you want to be one of the few people on the road that has a TL, move to a city where foreign cars aren't popular like Detroit. Otherwise, get used to seeing a lot of TLs. This is what it's like for those housewives who buy RX300s. They buy them cause they want to have something exclusive, but then all their friends buy em too.

Well, I disargee with the Detroit thing. I live in the Detroit area and I see a few TL's everyday. At least 3 - but sometimes upto 10 a day. Of course if I drive by the dealer I see dozens

On Long Island there are plently of TL's. Can't go too far without seeing one. There are 6 in the garage of the building where I work alone. Also can't go a 1/4 mile without seeing a BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes either.

I live in an area that has a metrpolitan population of about 80,000, and I see 3 TLs with regularity, and one of them is mine. They are still pretty rare here.

I've seen a handfull of TL's but it's no big deal. At least they aren't all over the place like the BMW 3xx series. Geez.. In my parking lot of work, there's about 4 of them (all generic silver of course).
Whenever I see another TL on the road.. I just give the driver kind nod.
