I have the shakes, anyone else?

Okay so maybe this is different than other shakes and vibrations.
When braking at any speed above 65mph, I get some crazy shakes in the steering wheel
the more pressure applied to brakes the more noticeable the shakes become if speed is above 80mph and brakes are applied
you would not believe how bad it shakes, it stops shaking around 40mph or so.
any ideas as to what the problem might be, got about 15k on the TL now and just recently started to notice it.

Go get your rotors checked. Have you driven through water lately after getting your brakes heated up? Sounds like the rotors may have warped. I am not sure why this would happen only above 40mph, but it is definitely something to have checked at the dealer.
In any case, my motto is that if it won't start I can always get it to the dealer somehow, but if it won't stop, then I have a problem, so I always pay more attention to my brakes.

Yeah i kinda figured that, thanks for the quick response. but if i may add my brother owns a 03 TL and he had the same problem, ended up needing a brake job not sure what the outcome was why the new brakes but that fixed the problem.
will this be covered under my warranty if it is the brakes? I know i have over 50% left maybe

I agree with those that said it could be warped rotors. I think you can get them to cover it under the warranty because rotors are not "supposed" to warp, unless you have been abusing them. I know I've read on this forum that others have gotten them replaced under warranty.
Good luck.
Good luck.

anywho, just traded in my Grand Prix for new TL last Saturday
and it definitely sounds like warped rotors.
Warranty:
Rotors-probably
Pads-probably not unless something cause them to go bad, like rotors.
If they cover the rotors, they will probably cover the pads, but if it is just the pads, which I can't imagine how the pads would cause this, then they would be a wear item and not covered.
Also depends on the individual dealer. I worked for a GM dealer, and one dummy didn't change his oil for 20,000 miles and the engine seized up, but they covered it and made something up for the warranty.

I hope it is covered under warranty because its not like i abuse the car! I hope its something that can be fixed on my next appointment when oil change is due, also when my rear right window regulator is being replaced (my third one might i add)

Have the runout on the hub/rotor checked. Uneven and excessive tightening of the lug nuts can cause this, as can riding the brake. None of my cars has experienced a rotor warp - am I lucky?
Some cars are prone to rotor warping - the 1990's Ford Taurus is an example. All mfrs have gone to thinner rotors, to increase fuel economy. In most cases, they have engineered the system not to have trouble when used properly. But as Ron has pointed out, rotors can warp or even crack from having water sprayed on them when they are hot, from excessive heat from mountain driving when engine braking is a better solution, from poor lug nut maintenance, from riding the brakes unconsciously, etc.
During the 1st 12 months, Acura will usually cover this - and in some cars, the known problems result in what the industry calls "hidden warranbties" - they will cover it if you make enough of the issue, but will not volunteer it (example: the "morning sickness" of GM steering racks with Teflon seals cuting into soft aluminum racks).

I have the jittering / shaking action going on in my 03 TLS. Im taking it to the dealers next week, I hope it is covered under warranty. Does ne1 know forsure if warped rotors are covered under warranty.
The dealership told me an avg price of $300 to fix it all. Im def going to argue and try to get it out of warranty here.
