As I am only 18 and the car wasn't legally in my name since my parents bought the car I could not do anything. I tried to convince them to at least call someone but they did not want to deal with it. My hands were tied with it all. All i could do was try and persuade them to take action but my attempts failed. Believe me i researched and did all I could to get my parents into the idea of trying to do something and make their life easier and get their money back.

Oh and I never drove fast before that and never do I just had an itch to push it and never did it again. Once was enough for me. (At least on public roads)

Regarding extended warranties, Costco is great with their 2 year warranty on nearly all products. Never an issue at all, but thats all I have to say regarding that.

But damn OP $1500 is a lot to just to give up on, especially if no one steps on the dealer's toes to teach them a lesson using bad practices such as this on customers.

Yes you can.
Just because car was in accident doesn't mean it cannot be certified.

To qualify for definition of a "certified used" vehicle, the warranty must be backed by the original vehicle manufacturer. The original manufacturer of the vehicle is using its dealer network to inspect the car, determine if it is worth certifying and then offer support for the vehicle for a period of time beyond the original warranty. Not all used cars can qualify for certified pre-owned programs, and terms vary from one brand to the next, but any true certified pre-owned program will include at least a 100-point inspection of the car. If problems are found, the factory-trained technicians will fix it or disqualify the car from the program.

^ Good to know. Still, I guarantee that 100 point inspection is weak. I'd bet most items on that inspection would be super easy for even a novice DIY'er to check on. Here's Acura's 150 point inspection:

http://www.acura.com/content/pdf/CPO_150pt.pdf

At least 100 of those 150's are nothing but visual or could be performed by my 9 year old son with adequacy. The other 50 are very easy for even a slightly mechanically inclined person to do. Based on this list, I'd guess that 90% of vehicles at even used car lots could be "certified".

I agree that visual inspection is worthless it is additional "piece of mind" warranty up to 100K that comes with it that most of the people are interested.
I like you was surprised to find out that almost any car can be certified and my guess is that most of the people do not know either.
