How wide is TL with the mirrors?

Is there any listing of the TL width with the side mirrors? Spec sheets do not have the mirrors factored in them.

I am interested in a new TL, but I have a narrow old garage door and want to know what sort of clearance I will have. I do not believe the TL does offers power folding outside mirrors.

If the info is not already available, can an existing owner, run a tape measure through the two open side windows and get a mirror edge to edge measure. Thanks in advance for any help.

I measured 81", and that should be fairly accurate, give or take 1/4".

I just did the tape measure thing. 81 1/2 inches.

Wow--fast guys with the tape measures. You also provided statistical reliability with 2 similar, but independent measures. The TL will fit, but not by much --maybe a Navy carrier "ball" in the garage to make sure I hit the hook.

Thanks.

The exterior mirrors fold, but under human power, not electronically. Just so you know...

No joke. They fold. Push hard.

They also fold automatically when you back out and hit the side of the garage with one. Did it on my 1G TL and it sure saved my butt. Didn't do any damage at all, and taught me to watch carefully, which also works with the 3G TL.

I think TLs (and a lot of other cars) are transported and shipped with exterior mirror housings folded into the body to protect the mirrors and housings as well as narrow the width of the car. One tends to forget about it until the mirror hits something (piller, garage wall, etc.) and starts to fold up, at which point one becomes grateful for that shipping feature.

Yup. They really fold, as Ron said. The last time I was in NYC I parked in such a narrow space that I had to make use of this feature.

That's probably one of the few things I don't like about the 3G TL...it's a bit too wide.
