How to remove vanity/trunk light cover?

I wanted to change my bulbs last night so I grabbed a butter knife, wrapped it in a paper towel and tried to pry the covers off.

I noticed that for the vanity light, when you start prying, theres the clear plastic cover and a metal tray/housing... which comes off?

For the trunk, I didn't have much luck either. Just seems like I'm going to crack the plastic cover or bend the crap out of my butter knife.

Thanks,
Jason

ah yes..the good old vanity and trunk light removal. talk about a PITA..actually at first it is, but once you know how to do it, it is a piece of cake. the metal housing you refer to is not to be removed, just the clear lens needs to be removed. Check out the following link https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98771 (i believe thats the one..work blocks all of the pics so i cant say for sure, but im almost sure) for some help, you kind of just need to play around with it to see where the tab that needs to be pushed in is. the tabs are located on the side closer to the rearview mirror. the trunk light is essentially removed in the same manner..you will need to use a little more force here, but dont worry it wont break, just dont go superman on it.

good luck

this link may have some insightful info as well.. https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/clpowers-ultimate-white-elephant-x-mas-175132/
