How to remove trunk lid?

My clearcoat and paint is fading on my trunk lid. I have the chance to get a good condition one on Craig's list plus it has the factory wing installed already !

I tried to search already and couldn't find anything. Is it fairly easy to remove the trunk lid and replace it ?

The service manual has all you need usually.

So can you adjust those torsion bars to make the lid stay up and a little harder to shut it?
Mine is entirely to easy and comes down on my head if I am not real sure the lid is ALL the way up.....I have a knot on my forehead where I knocked the shit out of myself.

I don't see how it could support a deck wing and stay open?

Worth trying/checking. I know depending on the weather outside (summer vs winter) my lid doesn't stay there as well.

the stock bar has 2 adjustments. weak, and even weaker. I put mine on weak and it is slightly better than even weaker.

if you have a wing, you HAVE to get the heavy duty bars made with the wing. It is much stronger even at the normal setting.

I don't know my current settings, but now I'm wondering just how weak it is.

Old thread I know, but the garage is lost in cyberspace and this is the only thread to come up in a search.

Anyway, from the parts diagram it looks like the trunk lid bolts to the hinge arms so it seems like you should be able to remove the inner liner of the lid and pop open the hinge arm trim pieces to just take the lid off at hinge end to make for a lot less work. Any owners or autobody techs try it this way instead?
