How to opening trunk with a dead battery

Is there a way to open the trunk when you have a dead battery? I had my jumper cables in the trunk but could not get to it. Luckily I had another set in the garage. Thanks.

Yes, there is (I read about it for the first time last night). Pull open/down the rear seat armrest (the middle one), open the trunk pass through (with the key), and there's a small trunk release under the upper aspect of the opening - it's in the owners manual (page 93 of the 06 manual, might be a different page for other years).

Wow, I had no idea that this existed. This whole time, I just laid my 3/4-foot ice scraper so it lined up with the opening, and then use it as a rod to trigger the glow-in-the-dark emergency trunk release.

You know...like a stupid person.

I'm hoping my 04 TL has this and isn't a "feature" that was added in later on.

Thanks for the tip!

I never understood coming online and asking strangers about these kinds of questions first instead of cracking the manual that is sitting in the car.

I had no idea about this either (previously). A friend of mine had the battery in his 08 TL die (yesterday AM) and had his work equipment in the trunk, not knowing how to get it out. I researched it for him (I went online to MyAcura.com, logged in, and looked it up on the owner's manual link). I'm glad I checked, so now I know.

Although this might be in the owner's manual, I've only read the manual in my glove box once or twice over the years, and these kinds of details are easy to breeze over when you're looking for more important things relating to your car.

The manual I do read through regularly is the service manual, which doesn't contain these kinds of tidbits or feature descriptions.

So either way, I 'm still grateful for the OP and his post. And I know that as the years wear on, fewer people will have access to a paper manual because the more hands a car passes through, the less likely the original manual will still be with the car.

(Mine wasn't- I had to buy the whole glove box kit separately when I bought my TL)

Some people are social and like communicating with other humans. Also, maybe he doesn't have an owner's manual?

When I bought my 08 there was no manual. I found it and downloaded it online, some folks might not have done that?
