How much are you getting for your TL Type-S

Its time to move on and trade her in. Im wondering what people are getting for theirs and how much I would see private for because I know certainly I will get more.

Car is a 07 Type-S, KBP, Automatic. Mechanically sound, does have a power steering pump leak. No HFL, and does need two new front seats (leather). Body is in decent condition considering the year and. Miles are up there at 192k. Does have a CEL but I think it something in the exhaust system.

I was hoping to get 5k private, do you all think that is reasonable? I know people like this care and particularly the engine, the J35.

Do you think it is worth putting a little money into to raise the value? Like the seats.

I'm thinking you might be able to get six, possibly seven in it's current condition, seven is reasonably attainable if you put some new skins on the front seats and get the CEL corrected.

Really all depends on your location. Miles are up there. Are all the maintenance up to date? Do you have all the receipts for services done to it? Keeping up with maintenance and all services due are more important than actual miles on these cars. I think $4.5K to $5K is reasonable in its current condition. You might be able to fetch possibly $6K if you fix the CEL and the seats. If it was a 6-speed, I would say definitely.

Agreed, if the car was a 6MT it would add two to three thousand to the resale value of the car; possibly more.

They still go for decent money for a 10+ year old car down here in north Texas, 6 speed versions command a premium. Plus if they are original Texas cars they are rust free. There is one with an automatic and 186k miles currently for sale on craigslist locally, asking $5750. Looks to be in good condition. Another one with 212,000, interior looks good, $6500. There is a blue 2007 with 97k and an automatic, looks to be in incredible shape including the interior, owner is asking $13k negotiable. Someone wants $19,995 for a 2008 A-Spec TL (not even a TL-S) because only it only has 11,000 miles on it.

Not a single 6 speed car that I could find. But prices seem all over the place depending on condition and mileage.

show some pics because we really are taking a stab in the dark on this without atleast some evidence of the condition of the car.

I'd pay up to $8,000 myself for that given it's a KBP TypeS... Atleast if you fix the seats and complete outstanding maintenance...

As it sits, I'd say you could get atlest $6,500... :I

I'd say $3,500-$5,000 as a trade at a dealer...

I was shocked at how little my car was going for on KBB. It said something like $5.5K in fair condition. I rated it fair for the crack in my dash, but the exterior and interior are in perfect, and I mean perfect, shape.

How many miles?

No. You can fetch WAY more than that...

I find beat up TypeS's going for $6,500 easy...

A clean-ish 2008 TL-S with 100K miles would bring between $9,000-$13,000.... I've seen it!

KBB seems to undervalue these cars. KBB does not include the wheels or the A-spec kit.

Screw KBB. IMO, value is between $8,000-$11,000.

Cracked dash doesn't matter to me since it's going to happen anyway...

Depends on if I can make the Coverlay dash cover work to my satisfaction. I still fail to see why they didn't go all the way for the cover that replaces part of the dash below the silver strip above the glove compartment.

I've seen pictures of the coverlay and it is barely noticeable, to me...

I would have gotten the Highlander fixed had we bought it.

Ya HAD to bring up the other car that shall not be named, DIDN'T YOU?

Crack grew to the windshield the past couple of days.
So others don't mind putting a band aid over the wound (i.e. dash cap over a cracked dash), but that bothers me.

Wow, thank you for all of the responses. I do want to fix the seats, it’s a tough time finding them in the tan color, and in good condition. I’ve considered keeping it but tbh I have a 1995 Jeep Cherokee that’s a beach truck, going to have the Acura, and a new truck is just too much. I still love the car.

I am looking at a a new F-150 Eco boost. Makes the most sense for me with my job and lifestyle now.

I want to take the money and use it for a down payment becuase once I’m done my paramedic I have my student loans kick in from my undergraduate so I think that makes the most sense.

Thank you again guys guys for all the responses. Caught me off guard lol

In July 2018, I bought a 2008 Acura TL Type S with 204,100 miles from the original owner with a folder folder full of maintenance records since day one. Nicely garage kept and very clean for age and mileage. I paid $4,600...I still think I overpaid for the car at the time....

its hard to say how much you can get, we can give out average market price, however the interior/ exterior condition along with history of maint/ records will drastically increase or decrease your vehicle value.

8 months later how has it been treating you? I would think repairs and reliability issues may impact your assessment of your purchase price.

If I have 2 choices between a clean TL-S AT and a beat up TL-S MT for the same price, same mileage. I will be picking the clean AT all day every day.

Yes, but in comparable condition, I know which one I'd pay more for (hint, not the one I wouldn't even look at).

Oh, you'd look at it, and then either vomit or shake your head. Just don't do both at the same time (messy cleanup).

LOL, but if I don't buy the car with the automatic and vomit on it, even if I'm shaking my head at the same time, it ain't my car to clean up.

Did you endup selling it? curious what you got. My dad has a new F-150 with the 3.5V6 and that thing moves, pretty impressive truck. For your situation, I think you're making the right call, no point in keeping a car if you're not going to use it or if you can consolidate. I personally am way too attached to my TL and I don't like or need a truck so I certainly wouldn't be in your shoes there, but I can certainly understand your situation.
