How much coolant left in engine after removing thermostat?

I figured id replace thermostat since its the original one and im at 246k miles, i plan to do timing belt, water pump, replace radiator hoses, etc. i drained radiator then pulled out thermostat not realizing the amount of coolant that would pour out. Any idea how much is usually left in the block after pulling thermostat?

As per the official service manual, Coolant drain petcock removes ~6.4L. Complete overhaul requires ~8.4L.

Assuming you also pulled the water pump as well, you're looking at an additional 2.4L that was drained when the thermostat was removed.

Just keep in mind you'll require considerably more than 8.4L all in all when filling/burping the system as the overfill coolant funnel has to be topped up when burping the system.
