Water pump removal and coolant spills
Who can confirm that draining the coolant through the nipple in the back of the engine block will empty the engine block and won’t have any coolant spills when removing the water pump? I really don’t want to drain the coolant through the drain plug under the radiator if the coolant in the radiator doesn’t come out througt the water pump after I remove it. Isn’t it that the thermostat block the coolant inside the radiator from entering the engine when the engine is cold? I really don’t want to waste a new coolant because I just did a flush 3 months ago. Please advise

It wont fully drain the block, When removing the water pump it will still spill but not as much as if you didnt drain the block.
The T-Stat holds the coolant INSIDE of the engine, when the coolant starts to heat up it opens and allow the coolant to flow into the radiator.
Try to absorb most of the coolant that will spill out but do not fret about it.. It wont damage anything even if you happen to soak the crank sensor.
