IMO..... u would actually have to be proud if u got the car wit ur own money.... if ur parents bought it for u... then other people would consider u a "mommas boy".... cuz me ... when i bought my car i was 20... and i got it wit my own credit...and so on... ive seen some "kids: in my town that i could say they drive fancey cars... but for a fact i know they are mommas boys... why?? cuz they dont work.... and still theuy show it off like if they were theirs.... u know what i mean home boy??

Heck, I wish I was a TL owner under 40
I get the opposite response.
I get the "What's an old guy like you dirving a dropped and modded TL with a killer stereo system that will make your ears bleed"

Got my type-s when I was 19. I bought my first car at 17 which was a 93 integra and paid for everything myself. Mom hated it because it was too small and it was slammed. So she wanted me to get a new car. Found a TLS and decided to hop on it. Parents paying half and I pay for the rest + insurance, maintainance, etc.
I work hard for my money and am very grateful for having the parents I have. Im sure everyone else is as well.

Im 17 and a proud owner. Parents paid for half, and i paid half. The TL isnt my first car, I had a 2000 ford taurus with 180k miles that just crapped out, and a 1995 chevy suburban turbo diesel.

WOW! When i see or hear of a 17 or 18 year old kid driving a new TL or TL-S i just sake my head, and think wow...really? But then i think, who am i kidding, but now i think that because i'm a little older, been around the world, been to war served my country in the USMC and work very hard for what i have..but then i remember, when i was 17 my i was VERY lucky to have parents that could afford to by my a really nice car! When i told my dad that i was joinng the Marines, he said well son if your paying for your school, i will give you some of the money that i've saved for your college and you can buy a nice car ( at the time i was driving an 1986 mini va WOOT WOOT!!). So he gave me 18k and in 2000 i bought a 1997 Trans Am WS-6 with 15k odo! I sold it in 2006 for 9k with 63k and some mods, and saved that money and 2 years later used it for a nice down payment on my TL! Thats why my payment is only 168/mo!! So if your that age and have a nice car, thats great don't let anyone hate! I'm now a fireman and i don't make tons of money, but i still to this day thank god for everything i have, and that my parents where there to help my out if i needed it, not everyone can say that! I work my ass off for what i have now, and its still my parents who instilled the value of the dollar in me!

17, was working at Circuit City till they went down the drain. Now im working at TD bank! and my dads liquor store on weekends, i gotta thank my parents though they went out on a limb for me and put it under there name, and my mom is too nice to let me work to long to pay for insurance. So yea its mine but they still have some control. So its like a 100% win for me except my grades gotta stay up "if you get C's we will take back your keys"..fair enough

Got mine at 20 (22 now) and I just finished paying it off. Parents never paid a dime for anything, and this was my 2nd car I bought.
Buttt.. If I could do it over, as much as I love my TL ,I would have not spent 25k (including interest). Instead I would have bought another 10k car and had 15k to put down on a house now that houses are actually affordable.

I got mine last year, paid it all cash for 21k. Worked for 2 years as barback and waiter made at least 200$ a night in tips. End up making at end about 14k (spent a lot of money on other things) and than I loaned from my Uncle the 7k and I paid him back already!

Honestly while i do get a little jealous when people drive nice cars that their parents got them, im glad im not spoiled and the main reason i get mad is when they try to show it off. If youre parents bought you something nice, tahts cool, but when my spoiled ass friends try to rub their done up evo's and shit in my face im like dude how can you brag driving your moms car? It just sucks driving my own car around that i worked hard for, and having people think oh i bet his mom bought him that.. some 16 year old kid at a car meet i went to had a fresh r35 as a first car that his dad bought him. He had a fine girl, but we all know why shes with him, she drove the car home :P

oh i hear you man... i am thankful everyday for the privilege of my car and treat it better than my dad did. i am responsible and dont act like the spoiled kids when they show up to my highschool in their bmws and land rovers. i do plan to pay it off to them, until them i can only thank them for everything theyve provided me...
more power to you if you buy it and work for it, more rewarding... but i think i care for it the same as if i wouldve bought it with my money.

Im 20. My parents bought my car last summer since I got a scholarship to IU. My old car was a 1999 E320 but now my sister will drive that one. I take better care of this car then anyone in my family, and all my friends. I figure if your responsible enough to own a nice car, you do not need to be spoiled if you do own it. I have worked jobs since I was 14 and saved almost every penny of it. I almost had enought to buy iut myself, but they thought of it as money I earned through good work in high school.
On another note, my sisters boyfriend is 18 and has an M5 fully loaded. His old car.... Range Rover Sport. But then again, his dad is a multi millionaire.....

how does that make sense? you've been on the forums since age 12, and you are now 17. okay, 5 years...but you got your dad's car in the year of 2004, after you waited for him to hand it down to you...yet it's a 2004. so it was less than a year old when he handed it down to you? and yet you waited 5 (i'm assuming) or less years? not trying to be...an ass

im a month away from being 21. ive had a few vehicles. ive paid for my audi and now the TL. parents pay insurance. I work and pay for anything that has to do with my car except for the insurance. i also go to college. 17 hours a semester. my parents hooked me up with a badass truck when i was 16. dont hate on people that parents get them their stuff, wish mine still did lol, unless they go around acting like they are the shit, they then need to be knocked down a few notches.
