Does anyone know what incandescent bulb type the doors take? I dont want to go LED. Id like to try the PIAA Xtreme White in them. I have those bulbs in my backup and license plate lights. Any info will be much appreciated.

Has anyone tried the PIAA wedged base LEDs they make? Its suppose to fit since its the same type. Though they are a lot more expensive than the ones on superbrightleds and from tectoyz, i want to know if they are brighter and how many LEDs is on it.

I have the PIAA in my 05 TL. I know there are other companies out tha=ere like you stated that are less expensive, but I always go w/ quality. I have the PIAA's in my doors, front and rear ceiling lights and even in my vamity mirrors. White in the Vanity mirrors and the blue in all other areas. I love the output and how they look. You will spend a pretty penny though. For 8 bulbs I spent $80.00 bucks. It's all about preference and if you don't mind spending the money.

Thats cool, i bought 2 9leds from superbrightled for the licence plate and they dont fit that great cuz only 4 or 5 of the LEDs are actually showing like many others have mentioned. They have enough light but i wish it could be a little brighter.

How many LEDs is on one bulb for the PIAAs? And are they brighter than the LEDs people posted?

Do you have pics of the PIAA LEDs. If you do please post them here, that would be a great help

i bought my 4 map lights, door lights and license plate lights from superbrights.com. then i have the PIAA for he reverse lights... all W9LED. I put blue for the 2 doors and the other lights are hyper white.. they look great the only complaint that i have is the hyper whites look almost as blue as the blue lights.. i thought they would be a little whiter.. they look good though and (knock on wood) have not had any problems... think i spent a total of $40...

I think the he has LEDs and for the part number, for LEDs theres only 1 kind but different colors at autobarn. For regular, just make sure its the 168 WEDGE style bulbs.

sdiesel619 & whatjones911- The PIAA bulbs are part #19261 Wedge Type 168. I have the white LED's in my vanity mirrors and license plate frame area. I have the PIAA blue/white color LED's in the front overhead and all blue in the rear and doors. The PIAA's only have 2 LED's

Are the PIAA LEDs bright enough? HOw does it compare the pics of LEDs on the license plate on this thread? And how blue is the blue/white. The ones i have are white but gives a little of blue/purple out.

I do love the blue that comes from the console next to the dome lights in the front (the standard stock setup that is), I just want this mod to be subtle.

Mostly white light with a hint of blue? That's exactly what I wanted and I got it by ordering the white led set from tec-toyz. His whites have a bluish shade to them, it looks really nice! My friend with a g35 ordered whites from superbrightleds.com and let me tell you those are just pure white. I'm sorry I really wish I could show you with pics but I dont have a digital camera..

However, the bulbs for my license plate are the same color as my interior LEDs:

Note: The picture above has mismatching LEDs that Brian at tec-toyz dealt with immediately. The light I use right now for both my license plate and my interior is the one on the right.

you need PIA19172 for Xtreme White as you requested. Those are regular incandesdent bulbs just like the one the OEM bulbs in the doors, just with the white color. Its a 168 wedge bulb, and that all you need if it fits for all the interior lighting

I have to say though, i dont think anyone has tried these yet so dont know if its going to work, but for sure it will fit.

So how do they look in person? More white? Blue at all, or just a tiny hint?

The pictures do make them look more blue so in person its just a hint of blue, leaning towards purple. TLyoung'un's LEDs looks more white

TLyoung'un: Yours are brighter and i want mine to be that bright. Is it 9 or 6 LED?
And how do they fit cuz i have 9 LEDs and it fits but when you look up at it from the outside, only 4 or 5 is actually showing cuz the LEDs are a lot longer than the original bulbs.

I think they are 9? I'm not sure. I just heard good things about Tec_toyz and asked him for the tl license plate lights and interior set. They look really good in person. No regrets here.

I've posted these same pics too many times on this forum but here are the pics I took with my friends digicam a while back.... in case you havent seen them

I have the 9-led from tec-toys. Love them, very bright. Makes the car look like a spaceship when you open the door with all the blue pouring out.

Most of the LEDs I bought from superbrightled.com have now gone bad. I had 6 sets of the cluster LEDs that I place in the wheel well. 4 have goned bad. 2 were replaced when I complained about it but they said that this is the "first" and questioned the my appication of thier product. I have since removed my footwell lights which were on everytime the car was running.

My license plates has the white LEDs. One bulb is now flickering.

They look nice but for some reason, they do not last long. My dome lights are OK since they are on only for a short time.

Has anyone used blue led's in the doors and rear domes, but used white in the front map lights? I'm wondering if this would look good or cheesy. Not sure i'd be happy with blue lights when trying to use the map lights in a functional way, but i like blue in general.

The doors and overhead lights are 168/194 bulbs. Not sure of the rest, but if you order from http://www.tec-toyz.com/ , he will send you what you need based on the locations that you want. Go to the website and send him a message through the "contact" feature. We emailed back and forth last night until he answered my questions, and then i placed my order.

I was considering white because of functionality, but i have the flip down rear view mirrors for that. The blue is bright enough anywho and u dont need to be reading a damn book when ur driving. Blue is super cool, everybody who's seen it loves it!

I installed my LED's today in the back parking lot at work on a smoke break. I have the 9LEDs Blue in the cabin, and ultra white 9LEDs for the tag light.

Words of wisdom:

Replacing the tag lights is a BITCH. I actually took off the lining in my trunk so I could wedge my fingers through that way. The other way (pulling the entire unit out and trying to get it back in in that space next to your license plate) is damn near impossible.

How does it look?

Fuching incredible. It's not too bright, not too dark... everything is cast with a strange eerie blue light. Matches the car perfectly... I love it. I'm going to go out and see if I can cap a few pictures worth sharing.

Thanks:

VelfarreClubber: I was a little worried taking any sharp anythings to pry anything on my new TL. *sniff*. Your guide made it easy and fun. Thanks!!

Brian @ Tec Toyz: This guy answers emails quickly and shipped same day. Real friendly, knows his stuff, and has truly earned his good reputation here in the forums. One of the blue modules has three non-working LED's... I'm working with him on a replacement.

Just installed PIAA backup lights and white LED lights for the license plate. Instructions posted here are great. Just want to add my two cents worth. When removing the bump stops for the trunk lid make sure to pull out only the outside end of the bump stop and then slide the whole thing to the outside edge about 1/2 inch before removing otherwise you will break off the rubber nubs. Learn this the hard way. When reinstalling use a little bit of paste wax on the rubber and it will slide right back in. I tried out the W9 led for the trunk light but found it much too dim so stuck with stock bulb. When removing the cover for the trunk light, pull out from the right side first. Will save you about 20 minutes of fiddling around from the left side.

Sal, where did you get the PIAA reverse lights, and what do they look like? I knew the 9-led's weren't bright enough for me, so i left the stock bulbs in there. With having tinted windows, it's already hard enough to see at night while backing up...
