How to bypass A/C pressure switch?

Hey guys, my wife has an 06 tl, and here a/c is not working. The compressor is not kicking on so I am not able to test the charge, so I pulled the plug off of the pressure sensor....and there are 4 pins. Every other car I have ever worked on only has 2 pins so I just put a paper clip between the two and I can turn the compressor on to test it. How do you bypass these switches with 4 pins? Thanks for any help.

This is a good question. I need to try to jump my compressor too, since my AC stopped blowing cold last summer.

Mods, can you please move this to "Problems and Fixes", where it may get some responses? Thanks.

Have you checked your refrigerant level? Most cars, if they dont have the right pressure the compressor wont kick on.

Check that first ( if you havent done so ).

That's the problem, you cannot properly test the low pressure side with out the compressor running. With out the compressor running the pressure reads too high. Furthermore you can not properly add refrigerant with out the compressor running....that's why I am asking this question.

Did you check the low side pressure with a gauge?

yes, and I was able to get the compressor to turn on. Not sure if I got lucky or not so I did not want to post an "answer" to my original question.
