So I got out of school today to find my car has been backed into. I'm so pissed I can't believe this even happened. Do you think I'll be able to just repaint the bumper or would I have to buy a new one? I don't want to go through my insurance if I don't have to cuz my deductible is gonna kill me. If anybody has any suggestion or input they can give I really appreciate it. Thanks for your help.

I guess when I look at that, I don't think it's too terribly bad. Granted - I would be pissed either way, but it could be worse.

I had a similar situation in which someone clipped my rear wheel well. I paid out of pocket (since I forgot to change deductible from Expedition). Total cost - $980 out of my pocket when I had a $1000 deductible. (now its $250 by the way)

So realistically - I believe it will easily be under a grand. That's even with a bumper replacement. From the pictures though, it doesn't look like you'd be in dire need of a new bumper. Technically it's your car, so you could bring it to a body shop and say to repaint your bumper, and you'd be looking at about $400 give or take.

I'm no body guy, so if someone can throw some knowledge out there - be my guest. Otherwise from your average joe, I think I can't be too far off.

As much as I want to make you feel better, it looks horrible. God, I'd kill someone.

Someone had something like that done to their bumper and it came out that a new bumper was cheaper.

 

I wonder if I can find a cheap bumper on ebay or something?

 

it can be repainted and fixed with some bodyfiller if necessary, i would look around the school parking lot to see if any car has any black paint transfer on it and beat the shit out of the kid that does.

repair it, i would charge 400 at my shop to fix the lip and bumber, and thats 100% good quility with lifetime warrantee

No way you can find out who did it?- What time of day, what part of school parking lot, any other cars parking in the lot that are white or light colored with a black spot on the bumper?

 

I'd love to say you can buff that out... but for christ sakes they chewed it up... I am pretty sure it just needs a repaint... good luck

 

It really sucks that people don't own up to their mistakes.

As long as the bumper isn't cracked, you should be able to just get it painted.

this is why i make a note to park near a camera when im at school. i learned the hard way with my bmw.

 

the only problem is that alot of school parking lots now don't have camera and if they do have security, there are stuck in a shack at the entrance and don't do anything.

Not only that but you have trouble finding close parking anyways unless you are a super early bird. Try to park next to nice cars is what I do. If you have to park next to a shitty ass looking car, take their license plate. Never hurts, i just type it in my cell phone.

 

I usually just snap a cameraphone image of the car next to me if I need to. Usually it's someplace that you really don't have much of a choice to park there (like a packed restaraunt or something like that). Otherwise I'm one of those that will park in the back of the lot or at least a couple cars away from people.

Definately goota avoid parking next to large marge and her 1983 Coupe De Ville with the 8 foot doors (that parked right on your side of the line none the less)

 

I was parked at the very end of the parking lot. It is wierd because my left side was the open spot so you can only park on my right side. But my left side is where I got hit. So I'm thinking it was the car behind me that clipped my left side.

 

AHHH!!! I hate people like that. That has happened to me twice! Non-Acura owners suck!... No wait I didn't mean that... wait, yes I did, Non-Acura Owners suck.
