Highway MPG FTW!
how the hell do you do that! I just drove down to florida for my honeymoon. Probably doing 70 to 80 the whole time and the best i got was 27 mpg! NEED HELP! and i usually average around 21 to 22 during the week going around town.
+1 run and tell THAT
justnspace: actual calculated MPG was 31.13 by the oldschool method. Drove 288 miles on 9.25 gallons (decided to fill up since we were stopping for food/bathroom anyway). Good luck and report back yo!

I'll be making the same run round trip (1632 miles) in July.

Without exaggeration, on a long trip to South Carolina from NJ (600 miles), I can average 33 mpg if I keep it at 65 mph (roughly just under 2000 rpm) with the cruise control on. I can get this kind of mileage consistently as I've done the trip plenty of times (have 245/45/17 size tires). Getting an economy car with these kind of numbers makes no sense. Even in mixed driving, I get typically 26 mpg.
Just another reason to love the 3G TL.

Justn: Do the K&N experiment. Would really be interested in your results. (You do have a K&N, don't you? Or am I confused??)
not the mileage you guys have logged, since i always forget to set it, but here's some snaps i have

iirc, this was about 50 miles after a fill up. was sending to my friend to show the comparison to my old car, a 425 whp s4. (i avg at best 23.6 mpg over 3 years of ownership)

Oh woops wrong car, thats my Z06 with almost double the amount of power as my Type S getting better fuel economy that it lol. Snapped that pic after driving 65 miles on I55 near Chicago.
Yeah when I want fuel economy I take the vette ;-)
Here is my 08 Type S 6mt after 77 miles on the highway.

Did first trip in my "new" '08 Auto base NBP about 3 weeks ago ... 1200 mile round trip to NC and averaged 34mpg. ~70mph and CC used about 50% of the time. One stretch of 180 miles after a fill-up netted 36mpg. Lovin' this car.
James, my auto tech instructor had a 2006 srt-10 viper. he always said "my favorite part about driving it, is laughing at the prius drivers going 50mph through the mountains...passing them at 100 and sitting at 1100 rpm" with a massive smile on his face
To get back on subject my 08 TL-S 6mt does very decent though im actually right around 24-25mpg without ever touching a highway. Thats about 3 mpg better than my 07 TL-S auto was.

This car never ceases to amaze me...I don't see justifying going and getting a car that's "better on gas" unless it's going to get you 40+ mpg. The TL is all around, the best bang for the buck. I definitely stand behind my sentiment on that. Thanks all for sharing.

does that say 81?
Trying to help you out with the wiff
