HID lights daytime and OEM

I was just wondering if anyone here has converted thier day time running lights to H.I.D and if so do you have both the running lights and the factory H.I.D lights running at the same time? This is something I would like to do but I'm not sure how much trouble it would be for a mod like this
If anyone who has done this could post some pictures or please direct me to a thread which talks about this mod

idk if anyone has done this but from the factory these lights are dimmed and if you were to put hids in there i think you would be blinding oncoming traffic

... HIDs in a DRL set-up, despite the 50% power cut off, will blind incoming traffic if used.
There is no cut-off shield in the DRL reflector thus it'll splash everywhere.
Here are pics when I did a mod to make my DRLs operate at 100% and turn on with my lowbeam.

100% DRLs with Lowbeams.

100% DRLs with Hi-beams.

I ABSOLUTELY loved the look:

But this mod was so bright in fact that I had semis and big pick ups turning on their tailgator lights or their hi-beams.
And note that the ABOVE setup was running a pair of Eurolite Yellow bulbs rated at 55 [or was it 65? 75?] watts.

A month later I installed a switch to turn it on/off.
Two weeks later I installed fog-projectors in my headlights.
Then I installed 3000k HIDs.

Bottom line... if you do this mod. DO keep others around you in mind and install some type of cut-off shield [or swap to the USDM headlights that feature fogs versus DRLs].

04komodo, any chance that have a DIY write up on how you did this mod to have both DRLS and the oem HIDs running?
and i'll keep others in mind, i promise, after all we all share the road
Maybe i'll install fog-projectors aswell if its not too much work or if i can find someone in ottawa who will do it

also where could I find USDM headlights, or is it easier just to install the projectors my self?

I could try to do a DIY. I didn't do this mod myself though. Had some help.
The second time it was worked on I didn't do anything so I'm not entirely sure how the wiring is done now.
I'll take a look. If I make a DIY I wouldn't be able to publish it till 3 weeks since I'll be visiting my family for the winter break.

It's not that hard to install projectors [also known as a retrofit]. But the easiest would be to swap USDM headlights. All you need to do is just get a new bulb. 9006 vs 9005? I forget.
You can find USDM headlights anywhere in our blackmarket or on eBay.
