HID Kit HELPP!!

I am having difficulty with my headlights and ballasts. I was wondering if anyone went the route to do an aftermarket HID kit instead of getting OEM replacement parts. Please let me know what kit you went with and what it included. Also please let me know where i can get these kits and how much. Also le me know if it would be easier to just get oem parts. Thank you

Why would you get rid of an OEM product to go with an aftermarket? Diagnose what's wrong and fix it. OEM will outlast any aftermarket kit.

What are the problems you're having?

it wasnt a matter of switching oem for aftermarket. I am having trouble with the lights in general. When i twist the switch most of the time only one light goes on. Then i turn it off and do it again and the other one comes on. then i keep repaeting this and sometimes ill get them both and other times none will come on. Also sometimes the one light flickers when it comes on or when im driving it will flicker and go out. Any help would be great.

are you using a relay harness? check your grounds? make sure ballasts aren't loose and mounted securely.

that's all i can really think of. or its possible that you got a defect kit?

I'd check your igniters. Possibly switch those out for new ones.

Do you currently run any of there hid systems in your car? If so which ones and did you have to wire them differently since they come with 9006 harness.

Think you need to do some more research on this subject or explain yourself more thoroughly. Are you talking about the OEM HIDs on our cars or adding and hid system to your halogen foglights?

NO i did all the research i needed to. Plain and simple i dont have fog lights. i have the stock OEM hid lights in it now that are acting up. i was seeing if itd be cheaper or easier to go with an aftermarket hid set up for the headlights or stick to oem parts.

Obviously you didn't if you can't answer your own question.

I don't understand why it's so hard to find someone who went with an aftermarket kit.. I just want to know if it's been done

Your posts are kinda confusing. Stock 04-06 TL's have fogs in the headlight housing.

Stick with OEM parts to fix your OEM HID headlight issues.

Sounds like a bulb issue... can you please describe your problem in more detail? Is the problem of failure to light up restricted to one side or does it happen radomly on both sides? Does it come back on if you turn it off and then back on? How long does it stay on after you have it on?

Reason why people are advising you not to go aftermarket is becuase its not smart to replace your OEM ballasts with aftermarket cheap junk. If you elaborate your problem a little more I'm sure I can help you a bit more and so can the other guys on here.

I will also tell you this... 95% of the time OEM HID lights are acting up, it can be traced back to the bulb... only 5% of the time is it the ballast, because OEM ballasts are made of the highest quality.

I already switched bulbs and still didn't come on. It's not the bulb. The fog on that side won't come on either. My guess is ignitor.

Your fogs won't come on unless your headlights are on. So either its your ballast that's gone on that one side or its a circuit problem isolated to that one side. Don't know what year and how many miles on your car, but if you are high mileage night time driving.. I'd try to swap my ballasts from working to non-working side and see if the problem follows the bad ballast and if so then .. there's your answer!
