HID Fogs on 07

Will replacing the fog lights on a 07 TL with an HID kit void warranty? I'm assuming since it deals with the electrical system it will. Can anyone correct me if i'm wrong on this?

Also if i were to add an HID kit to the Fog lights, would i need any relays to regulate voltage? Thanks in advance!

HID fogs will not work on the factory 07 wireing as they are only ratedto 35 watts. The HIDs require 35 watts, but 65watts to ignite, so that would burn out the wires. Instead, you would have to hook them up to the battery. The only arenties you would void are the ones for the stock bublbs as they have been removed.

Dealer can void the warranty of anything connected to your lighting system if he wants

look at nokya bulbs. if you don't want to spend the money on some PIAA's or something pricier, the nokya's are a safe bet. i just put some of the artic white bulbs in my 07 and they match the HID's pretty close. i bet the yellows would look sick as well!

So you're basing this on the thought that even simply replacing the stock fog lights with a DIRECT replacement is dangerous or might void some kind of warrenty?

if so that's the most absurd thing I've heard in a while...

there is absolutely NOTHING negative that might come out of replacing the bulbs with a stock replacement, other than standing out from the hoard of TL owners out there

my reply was to the original poster who wanted to replace them with a HID kit which would possibly melt his wires

also these compaines that say direct replacement up the wattage, which does melt things. unless the specs are indentical the dealers could possibly void a warranty related issue

Yellow H8 bulbs from Nokya (35W) will not melt your wires. I've been running them on my Odyssey for 6 months.

An HID kit will not melt your wires either, but it will blow the 10A fuse. f you replace the 10A fuse with a 20A fuse you MAY melt your wiring at the ground.

You would need an HID kit that came with a seperate "standalone wiring harness" with a seperate relay to power the HIDS. Frankly, the little H8 fogs/small reflectors woudl be GLARE city with a HID kit installed.

If you are "mod paranoid" you be best advised to not touch anything until you are familair with the car, familiar with the dealer, and comfortable with the potential impacts of your mods.

Kennedy is correct. HID D1S and D2S systems deliver high voltage current to ignite the bulb, however, this is a temporary 42W load to each light and then ramps down to a steady 35W (per HID) draw which is less then most typical 55W (ea) fog or driving lights.

If you install HID lights, a simple harness composed of a relay and a 20A fused power lead is highly reocmmended.

You can look at a typical HID kit and, other then the 20A battery power source wire lead, all harness wires are small gauge, low current grade wire.
