Help with wiring led strips

now i know that if i wire em to my park lights that they will stay on ,
but if i wire em to my drls, they will be on with no side marker like , but turn off once i turn the lights on ,

i want them on when everything is off(wired to drls), and i want them on when everything is on (park lights)
can i wire them to both positiers, of will the circut give power to the other line ex turn the parklights on , cause power is spliced togeather

please do not flame me for not searching hahahaha i did a little bit

It would be tricky. Because say when your DRLs are off and your parking lights are on, the power from the parking lights would jump through the side marker wiring and into the DRLs. I'm sure there's a way around it bit I'm willing to bet it's complicated.

Question: When the TL's DRLs are on during the day, and you turn on the parking lights, do the DRLs go off?

The DRL are on if you turn the parking lights on. They only turn off at night or if you turn the low beam on.

This is actually a really good idea. Assuming the wire can handle the load (and I don't see why it couldn't, they're LEDs) you should be fine with this.

Thanks. That means that it could be wired to the parking lights too, you could just always leave them on.

Perhaps you can just wire them to an on/off switch, so you can turn them on or off whenever you want. Just a thought.

^def the best way to do this. that way you can control them with a flip of a switch. whenever you want them on...turn them on. whenever you want them off...just don't turn them on.

this is how i did my headlights. one rocker switch for angel eyes and one rocker switch for LED strip.

you don't want to have these LED strips on ALL the time, you'll just burn them out faster. what's the point of going thru the hassle of installing/wiring/splicing if they won't give you a long life span?

This is what I plan on doing for my LED Light bar. What's the easiest way to wire a switch (forgive my ignorance, I've never wired a switch before)is a relay needed?

no relay is needed. i just got an illuminated rocker switch from radio shack. switch has 3 prongs on the back. positive, negative, and ground. wire the + lead from your light bar to the + on the switch. wire the - lead to the - on the switch. then ground the switch to whatever you can find. i just grounded mine to a screw under the dash.

That's what I thought. Where exactly is the power coming from to power the LED's? Don't you have to hook up to the battery somewhere?

Perfect! Thanks a lot.

EDIT: What gauge wiring are you using?
