So, I have been working with my local dealer for about a month now on price, etc. Initially it looked as if they would have no trouble getting me the car that I want (6 speed w/Navi, anthracite w/ebony). However, there aren't any available ANYWHERE. There are about 30 throughout the US, but they are all spoken for.

So here's my dilemma...do I wait a month or two for a 6 speed or do I buy an auto tomorrow? They have one just like I want, but with an automatic sitting on the lot. However, chances are that it will sell soon, so I must act fast if I want it.

They are still willing to get me whatever I want, they just want to shorten my wait and make me happier sooner.

They actually sent me home in the demo tonight so that I could spend some time behind the wheel of an automatic. I gotta admit, it's a pretty good auto.

What do you guys think I should do? Thanks in advance.

 

Sounds like dealer pressure tactic to me. Also if you really want a 6 speed do yourself a favor wait and get a 6 speed so you don't have buyer's remorse later. It'll be worth the wait.

 

Decide if you weigh color or 6MT more and the decision is easy. I'd wait for 6MT. I'll bet you'll have a remorse if you chose AT now after this dilemma. Whatever you do, do not regret later.

 

I think you should wait for what you really want. Plus, in a month or two is going to be the end of the model year so you should remember to get a better deal or wait for the '05.

 

The auto might be nice but the Manual has Brembo breaks STANDARD on it. The auto does not. Having said that I came from perfromance cars but bought this in an auto and like not having to shift.

 

I say wait... the 6mt, if its important to you, is so great. I waited almost 2 months, and it's well worth it. Sure, I drove my friends nuts talking about it all the time, but hey. What are friends for? You bringing it up at all means its probably important to you, so you should probably wait for it.

 

That's the color/tran/Navi combo I ended up with, and I was lucky enough to find it on the first go-around, without any waiting that I didn't self-impose. So, I could suggest waiting for what you want, but I realize that would have been hard for me to do.

That said, if I had settled, I never would have forgiven myself.

If you really want the car, email the internet managers of every dealer within hours of you. Maybe even fly to someplace for the car. Maybe I'm the only one nuts enough to do that.

 

Well not sure if "only 30 left" makes sense. I got the same combo (6 speed w/Navi, anthracite w/ebony) coming in July. So if they are spoke for...I guess I got on...sorry man. It was not on the lot...(maybe only 30 in the country on the lot). the one I got happened to be in their list that they had ordered months ago.
I would look around to all the dealers and see what is coming in for them
