Heated seat on a timer?

I usually don't keep my heated seats on for long, but yesterday and today on a road trip I had my seat on high for an extended period of time because it was the coldest it has been here and I hurt my back at the gym. My seat seems to be turning on an off.

Does Acura have them set up to cycle on and off for some reason? I couldn't figure out any pattern. It would seem to be on for a while (15 minutes or so?) and then turn off for an unspecified period of time and then come back on again.

I hope this isn't by design; this is probably by 6th car with heated seats and none of them have done that.

Ideas?

Thanks.

According to the owner's manual. The high setting will cycle on and off while the low setting will remain on until shut off.

I get the sarcasm, but since it's Christmas-time I'll give you the real answer. The manual says to start by putting it on High; when you get to a satisfactory temperature, switch to Low. That will keep the seat on at that constant temperature. Just leaving it on High will cause it to cycle on and off, as you experienced.

Yes, the seats work in a cycle on high. This goes for all Honda/Acura heated seats of any generation.

This is not true, my parents have a 99TL and if you set the heated seats on high they stay on, they do not cycle off. My ex girlfriend had a 2003 accord and her seats cycled on and off, i thought they were broken at first.

Hmmm, on my 99 TL they would "cycle" on and off.

does any one know if the seats are on high, how long they stay on? and then how long does it take for them to get on again?

My 99's cycle on and off on high. Thats why I love the 01 740i I drive sometimes, cause when I put it on high, it stays on.
