im talking about the headlight fog bulbs, i already had my stock headlights changed to 6k but now i just wanted to do the headlight fog bulb the one you turn on with the little turn knob , i think were talkin about different things lol
Yes we are taking abOut same thing. The fogs that are in 04 and 05 tl are im the headlight. The low beam is a bixenon projector. It uses hid bulbs. The foglight that is located inside the headlight is a halogen bulb and you can not just swap that bulb for an hid bulb. Without modification you can only swap it for ether an led Nokya bulb or piaa bulbs. The bulb is a 9006 bulb. If you want an hid, you have to get and hid kit

year and model mah man ??? !!!
if 04+ TL (since i know more about them) - lenses are not important to change when you switch bulbs....if your bulbs have faded get new ones....
now for generic knowledge:
the bulbs start having low lumen (brightness) as the kelvin goes up (K)....
so 2500K - 4000K will be the brightest but yellowish to yellow tints....
400K-6000K - will be very bright and blue tint
6000-8000K - will be bright and blue
8000 + - i personally wouldnt recommend these as primary lights....as a fog light ok....but not primary, as they are not very bright !!!

BTW, the 3G TL doesn't have low beam or high beam lamps. What it has is a bi-level xenon lamp which sends light through a projector. When you are operating in low beam mode, what is actually happening is a flat is rotated down to partially block light from the lamp. When you switch to high beam, this flat moves up to allow all of the lamp's light to escape through the projector. Since our headlamps are HID (High Intensity Discharge) there is no filament to resist electrical flow. These lamps operate via a gas which is excited by an electrical current to produce high volumes of light.

^^^ i think what he means is he wants to keep the sidemarkers and fogs on....
you can achieve this by using a relay which converts your fogs(not HID fogs only led or halogen) to act as DRL's and operate independently !!!
if you have HID and you add a relay...the relay provides a low voltage going into the bulb which will mess up ur ballast !!!
search, there is thread which does this...and by no means is this simple
