Headlight Clearing

Hi guys,

Remember the guy who was doing the headlight housing clear-out modification late last year? The thread is here: https://acurazine.com/forums/sponsored-sales-group-buys-10/get-your-headlights-cleared-348076/

Well, I have found a guy who's offering to take the place of the guy in the above thread, since that guy stopped doing it. I have a lot of confidence in him, as he says (this is a direct quote)
"...if this guy isnt doing it anymore, I could do them for other Acura owners, and for a cheaper price. For me, taking apart headlights is like getting out of bed in the morning, it just comes natural since I do it so often."
The part I really like is the getting out of bed in the morning analogy; the part about doing for less is nice, too!

Anyway, I thought I'd throw this out here because I know there is a lot of interest. I've been looking to get this modification done to my car the second I drove mine off the lot. I proposed that he join Acurazine and offer his services, but he was a little hesitant because he didn't think that anyone would really trust a new guy who only has one or two posts. That's completely understandable, so that's why I'm posting...even though I'm not exactly a super-poster like some others in here.

So I guess at this point, let me know what you guys think. I feel that this could be a good thing for us TL drivers, as well as anyone else who wants the mod done.

Even if he registers, he won't be able to send PM's until he gets 5 posts, so he would have to use the email to correspond with robb, so ask him to send an email to "robb at acurazine dot com" for details.

Did he clear your headlights? If so, I guess you were satisfied or you wouldn't have posted this.

I thought u had to have 30 posts to PM??

I am interested, but would like mine cleared and blacked out, if possible. I mean take out all the orange diffusers and bulbs and have the housing itself black inside.

It was changed to 5 posts a few days ago, but we're not telling the spammers.

It would be nice to get another vendor here to replace JnC in the clearing headlights business.

We have to go through the vendor process and then I'm sure he will post a thread in the Sponsored Sales & Group Buys forum, or one of the regular forums, with more information on his business and what he will do and how he has done it.

You can't commit to anything until he signs on, so sit tight and we hope this will happen soon. It's all up to the mystery clearer how soon he gets in contact with Astroboy and gets everything settled.

However, a show of support here might help him make the decision sooner, so keep it up.

You said it, Ron A. I've given him the link to this thread, so I know he's watching. He was a little uncertain about the interest in this service at first, but I think it's pretty clear (no pun intended) now that the interest is pretty high based on this thread having so many views and responses already.

For all those who are interested, keep the requests coming!

One thing to consider (which will ultimately influence the amount of interest) is what is the process for members to get there headlights cleared. How will this work out?

JnC used a deposit and trade in program, which I think made sense, but in order to do that, he had to have extra headlights laying around to minimize bottlenecks.

Ask your friend how he is planning to make this work. Once we know his plans, then you'll have more realistic interests.

I know this is in the 3G section, but would he be able to clear my 1999's headlights?

Does he know how to do a different kind or is his specialization 3G?

I would think that once he did one, he would be able do to any kind.

I think he knows how to do all kinds of headlights, but I don't want to speak too much for him.

Same thing here: I'm pretty sure he could do that, but I don't want to speak too much for him. Also, that would probably cost more since it would require more work.

Exactly! I know this is how datmrman got his done, and I wish I had the extra $ back then to do it. If he has this trade in service I'm down, but there are many variables that would turn me against it really quick. I think if HE is serious he should register and let us know what he was thinking. Its awesome that he wants to do this service, but until I see his work I can't be certain. I'd just wait and go up to Rego in a month or 2.

Hey whats up guys, Im the guy who has been speaking with Brett about the headlight mods.

Basically I run a business called Retrofit Source. We mainly specialize in selling HID projectors/components to retrofit them into standard halogen headlights, or for retrofitting projectors into HID reflector type headlights (like the previous Gen TL for example) We also do custom work for headlights as well.

you can check out our website at www.theretrofitsource.com

I havent really setup price points for the different services we'll be offering to you guys, but Im pretty sure we can do somthing for cheaper than JnC used to offer at $150/pair.

We can do things like:
-Clear out the headlights
-Paint interior trim parts (black out)
-Cover interior trim bits with real carbon fiber (different colors even available)
-Modify the HID projectors inside the headlights for increased output, sharper cutoff lines, and increased color flicker (the color changing effect you see when the car goes over the crest of a hill or a bump in the road)

so pretty much anything you can imagine with your headlights can be done here by my company.

any questions just ask, e-mail would be best (OEMxenon@yahoo.com)

mods get at me with any info I might need to know about doing this here on the forums.

We will keep you all informed, since we know how many people are dieing to get this done.

(bump)

Guys and gals, I've had my headlights modified by this so-called "mystery vendor." I had these done on a pair of used headlights, and they are going to be buffed when they get back to me before they get installed so they're all crisp and clear and looking new.

Before I get the please take a look at these links:

I'm pretty sure he's already signed up as a vendor, but I don't know what his screen name is yet. I just e-mailed him a while ago, so I'm sure we'll know soon enough. From what I remember him telling me, this'll be less than what the last headlight housing clear-out guru was charging, but don't quote me on that. At the very least, it'll be the same price. As you can see in those pictures I posted (the second time...he he he), he does CLEAN work.

Thanks for your help, dude. I wanted the links on there so page didn't take years to load. I'm not trying to have people wait for an hour just to see some preliminary in-progress pics.

My bad for not posting the links correctly the first time, but I'm well aware of how to post pictures.

You mean smoke the lens itself? I'm sure he could do that; he's pretty good. It would probably cost more, though (obviously). He can also color the inside of the housing if that's what you want, for an extra cost. He offered to do mine, but I thought it would be best to keep it shiny chrome in there because it'll go better with the overall look of my car.
