Having second thoughts on new TL....

So I went to the dealer today looking for a TSX. They got one I like but they won't give it to me for the price I want. I haggled for 2 hours but not going anywhere. Then out of nowhere, the sales manager threw me a curveball and said he has 3 TLs with navi for $32,150. I actually always wanted a TL and this sounded like a pretty good deal. The only catch is that those 3 cars were part of an Acura sponsored golf tournament and they were used to transfer golfers for a weekend. They had the color combo I wanted with 113mi on it. They classified the car as Certified Pre-Owns and that's why they were selling them at $800 under invoice. I got the dealer to throw in all-weather mats and wheel locks for $32,200 before TTL. I was tired, and they kept the dealer opened for 1.5 hours after closing time for me already. I was torn between waiting for the '07 refresh or buying the car now at the discounted price. In the end, I went with it. So I put down a refundable $1,000 deposit, and I will pick the car up next weekend after I get my full coverage insurance. But after thinking about it and doing more research on the car, it seems like some dealers are selling BRAND NEW ones for $32,500 or so. Now I am having second thoughts and I may call the dealer first thing Monday morning to get my deposit back. Am I making the right decision?? Do I actually need to go into the dealer again to get my refund back or can I do it over the phone?

Edit: sorry for even posting this...it's really my problem and my indecisivieness...and it's late and i am sooooo confused.............

Ok, I just realized I got screwed. Since they classified it as a CPO, I shouldn't have to pay destination which is $615.00. If I add that to $32,200, that's the invoice of the car! So all they did was take off the destination which I shouldn't pay ANYWAYS. So I didn't get a discount at all for it being used with 100 miles....calling the dealer for sure to get my deposit back. SNEAKY SNEAKY!! I can't believe I got screwed like that....but lesson learned =). I did alot of research on the TSX but not much on the TL. Making a rash decision at the end of a long day doesn't help either.

Be prepared!

The dealer is not going to give back the $1000 wihtout a fight.
THey will probably argue to the last drop and will come up with alternative "deals" to keep the sale. If they take the destibation off the price, will you go forward with the deal? Decide exactly what you want to do, before going into the dealer.
Good luck and let us know what happens.

You are getting an extended warranty which itself is worth about $1500 if the car is really CPO. How bad is that on top of 100 miles that they put on the car.

Tell the dealer to get bent. You will pay higher finance charges because it is used as well.

I paid $32,000 for my TL with Nav. It had 4 miles on it when I picked it up. If I were you, if they fight you on the deposit, tell them, "Look, you can either give me my deposit and we can start negotiations over, or you can give me my deposit and I'll go elsewhere. Your choice."

Here's the math:

MSRP: 35,325
Invoice: 32,205
Holdback: 1,066
Actual Dealer Cost: 31,139

Just remember they need to make SOMETHING. I would start at 31,750, and negotiate to whatever your maximum price is.

Keep in mind they will NOT throw in any extras for that kind of pricing.

Good luck!

Steve

Yes, they did use that against me when I tried to negotiate the price. They said since they are giving me extended warranty, they won't go much lower. But still, I feel screwed because of the destination charge. I am calling them first thing Monday morning, asking for my deposit back. No more negotiation. Since I put the deposit on my credit card, hopefully I dont have to actually go into the dealer (Dealer in Chicago, I am in Champaign...2.5 hours away). I am most likely going to wait for the 2007 TL instead.

Wow! That's a great price. Was that for a 2006? And 32,150 was not otd price....

OK, here is my story. I went to the dealer to get a new key for my 2000GSR. While waiting I was looking at the TSX. But hold the phone!! I saw a TL ASpec. It was all over after I took it for a test drive. The TSX was a nice upgrade for me. But the TL.....
I stepped into a different world. The TSX is not an option after driving them both.
