Have Anyone Done This???

Hello all,

I have an 05 TL/ Black w/ Camel int. I leased it for 3 years and it'll be a year in July. I'm looking to get out of my lease --> turn it back in --> and either get an 06 w/ A-Spec or possibly the RL and the only reason why is because i'm wanting to finance instead of having a lease payment for 3 years then turning around and still having a payment for atleast another 3 years.

I was wondering who here has had a TL under lease and broke out of the lease within a year into it and what did you end up going with? If so, i'd like to know how the numbers broke down and worked itself out so i'll have an idea of what i'm working with.

Your help will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

You can break the lease by paying the full pay-off amount listed on your monthly billing statements.

The easiest way to do it is to sell the car and pay off the full amount. But usually, you would end up upside down.

I traded in my 03 CL before the Lease was up. The dealership ended up giving me what I owed for my CL and then I just leased a new car.

I will reply.....You are stuck with the guy....which is not a bad thing cause its great until at least 6 months before lease ends..preferebly within 4 months of termination. If you do get rid of the car.....it will cost you dearly to make up the difference. Even if the dealer gives you full book value for the car.....it will still cost you thousands to break the agreement. Thats why no one responded...cause no one does it.

Pretty much you either need someone else to take over the lease, pay the remaining lease balance all at once or just keep the car.
I turned my BMW in a month early and I had to pay the current month and the last month before I could drop it off. If you walk into another Acura, the dealer might be willing to work with you if you only have a few month on the lease left.

Thanks guys... i would definitely be getting another acura and maybe even the new Accord V6. I just don't want to be stuck with a car payment or making payments for the next 6+ years. There's gotta be something that can be done.... Or maybe as one you said, since i'm opting for another Acura they'll work with me.

Get a loan from your bank for the payoff of the car. Pay the car off w/ that loan, and make the loan payments to your bank. Any other transaction will leave you in extra unecessary debt.

Oh yeah, I came from an Accord, there is no comparisoni...they are not the same car....

stevencrosbie,

Thanks for the info. However, if i were to go that route what would i do about getting the new car? If i'm understanding you correctly then that would mean i'd be paying my bank back for the payoff amount, however, what monies would be allocated or set aside for me to get another Acura?

do what another poster mentioned... buyout your car and sell it... you may be upside down a few g's, but it beats paying off a car you aren't using (if you give it back to the dealer). if you really want out, that's an option. bottom line is that you aren't just going to be able to walk away from this without having to pay in some way.

if you leased through ahfc, they don't allow lease assumptions, therefore, not able to transfer to another lessee. so that option is out assuming you did in fact lease through them. i think haan allows this, in that case try leasefolks.com or swapalease.com etc...

good luck

You can use sites like leasetrader.com to sell your lease / get out from under it. Depending on your lease, you may not have to pay anything. All the TL's in there right now are in the 400plus payment range (a bit much if you ask me).

if you stick with Acura, the dealer should work with you to get you into a new car - they get to make another deal/commission/profit, etc.

you can pray the car gets stolen or totaled.....two ways (albeit not practical) to get out of your lease.
