Hate the 09 TL--looking for TL type S..best deal ?
Hi guys. Like many of you , I despise the 09 TL.
I have an 04 TL that I love but its getting up there in miles so I am looking to trade in for a 2008 TL type s--manual.
I found a dealer that has what I want...what kind of deal can I swing with incentives?
I have read on town hall that there is a 3500 cash incentive AND another 1000 incentive....and .9 percent financing. Can someone tell me what their absolute best deal was that they got ?
I need to move fast on this...I found one dealer within 100 miles that has the color combo I want with a manula tranny.
Thanks !

Take the invoice price and subtract all the incentives to start. If you can get into dealer holdback, then even better.

The '08 TL-S models are going quick, so you better act fast. They won't combine the $3500 cash back and the 0.9% special financing. If you take the special financing, the cash back will be reduced by about $1000. If you take all the cash back and you have a high credit score you can get financing for around 4.5%. You can try to get part of the dealer incentive but with such a rare car as the 6 speed TL-S, they proably won't give that up.

08 TL-S's are rare period! And especially a 6MT. As you said, you need to jump on it quick. I paid $32,328.00 before tax, title and tags back in April. I financed for 6% but later refinanced through my credit union. No incentives at that time. Good luck with your deal.

I don't think most dealers are that good about keeping their online inventory up-to-date. (They might do that intentially.)
I just helped my brother buy a TL-S in Southern CA 2 weeks ago. Their are two Acura dealers within 10 miles of his house (Orange County). The largest dealer showed they had 15 TL-S models with 3 being 6-spds. When he got there that same day, turns out they had no 6-spds and only 3 TL-S autos in stock. The next largest nearby dealer showed 5 TL-S autos, but only had 1 in person.
Probably part of the game dealers play...

2008 Acura TL
Well, some quick math:
500,000 2008 acura TLs produced.
10% (50,000) are TL-S
50 states.
Approx 1,000 per state.
Then, 10% of THOSE would be manual transmission.
So, 100 per state.

thanks for the replies. I heard about the 3500 but I didnt hear anything about the extra 1000...i saw someone else post it on Edmunds town hall. Is that confirmed ?
As far as financing I would take 4.5% and the incentives. I would only be financing maybe 15k

I hate to be the kill joy, but Acura doesn't sell ANYWHERE NEAR 500K TL's in a year. In fact, they don't sell 500K total Acuras. As of July they were at 42K TL's for 2008. Their peak sales for TL's ever was 2005 with 92K total sold that year.
That being said, there are a lot less manuals available. I would also bet there are only about 5-7% of TL's sold in a manual, especially since you can only get it in the type-S (as of 2007).

Oh well. The Type S manuals are a limited production, as you said.

You should be able to get it for $32.5k with the $3500 customer cash back. But the dealer may be looking to make a little more profit since he knows there are not many manual TLS models left.
