Has anyone changed leather on their seats? (large pics inside!)
Howdy!
i know someone had to do this already ...
'05, 41K miles
pampered like a baby driven like a .... well ... hard
having some leather issues
want to take care of them before i run out of warranty
this is lower panel of the seatback, right at the lumbar support
close ups
those are the two spots where my, what should i call'em, "lower back" bones touch the back of the seat
my dealer has offered replacing the cover, but one of the mechanics said they don't fit as tight as the factory insalled ones
quote: " it'll hang like loose sock"
and i'm pretty happy with the way that "sock" fits now:
so, the question for my fellow TL'ers
if you have gone through replacing your seatback leather, how bad did it fit?
and was it worth it?
pictures would be the best answer i'm hoping for
thank you!

I work at a used car dealership and we have a guy called the color doctor that will fix any interior problems like leather or vinyl. He usually restores it to new condition.
Find someone that does vinyl and leather repair and they can fix those seats. It should be relatively cheap.

Well, it's still under warranty.
I'm just not sure if the replacement it worth a shot, knowing it may not be perfect and there's probably plenty of other things that can get scratched and messed up in the proccess.
So, i'd like to see some pictures of the seats with replaced covers and owners stories about how it went.
It's good to know though that something like that can be fixed later if i decide not to replace the covers. Thanks!

I had my entire interior replaced under warranty. I had a real bad fading problem, where the vinyl parts of the seats were a completely different shade of parchement. They replaced all seat covers and the hard vinyl backs. Also replaced the armrest! Now everything matches again. The installer they used was awesome, the new leather is tight as the factory's. So I'd say go for it!

Acura changed out all my front seat leather and cushions for the '05 version...at their expense. The '05 cushions are firmer and have better support.
Car was laid up a week as it invloved completely removing the seats and dissambling and reassembling the seat heaters.

Avib, looks like scuff marks caused by back passenger.
I took my car in to the dealer two weeks ago for squeaky seats, and the dealer acknowledged that it damaged my seatback leather in the process. So, I need to go back again to have the leather fixed or replaced.
DMZ, how did not manage to talk Acura into replacing your seats and cushions, as they were not damaged or defective, just cushy?
