Question Hard Cornering or Speedbumps...

Which is more abusive to the suspension? Obviously I'm talking about those people that you see that just plow over speedbumps without slowing down. I think I know the answer but I'm curious as to the explanation why...

Are you asking in regards to TL's specifically and/or cars in general?

I suspect that the speedbumps are harder on the car because the impact is absorbed straight up through the struts whereas when cornering the weight of the car is spread out on either the left or right side of the car (depending on how the car is turning) and things like sway bars help to mitigate some of the stress. In short, there are more components involved in cornering. What do you guys think?...

This is not a 4x4 or ATV, so anyone plowing over speedbumps in this car is an idiot!

First thing I think of when it comes to plowing through speed bumps is sidewall bulges and blowouts of all kinds. Sudden shock would be much more damaging I would assume.

Yeah, I agree about the sudden shock... I would never take speed bumps like that with this car, but I see people driving as if s.b. weren't even there - and in nice cars...
