GRRR!!! I'm so angry!

While installing my springs today, I somehow managed to break both of my driveshafts, and now it's too dark outside and I can't replace them! i'm gunna have to wait till tomorrow.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

you're not supposed to hook the wheels up to a tow truck to get them off. they unbolt

I would have to say it was a lot of force trying to get them out. We need to see pictured now.

Wow, how did you do that?

You removed the shocks and used a spring compressor to remove/put new springs on, correct?

Not sure how this happened, would like to see pics ASAP

sorry but if you break the axles while replacing springs, you should not be working on a car.

Ron A posted some scans a few weeks ago. They are in the Garage. Original post was one of mine in "Problems and Fixes".

What the hell, did you find a way to get a shotgun involved in the swap or something? I don't understand how this is possible.

And regarding the broken motor mounts and other stuff, what the HELL? I didn't even know it was possible to be that mechanically declined.

If the lower strut mount, the spring perch and the top hat are not properly aligned and you FORCE them to fit their mounting points, something is going to break (maybe a lot of things) .

I don't really know what you guys want me to take pictures of. To take the spring/shock off you have to move the whole brake assembly down, I guess I pushed a little too much, and it broke the CV joints.

We want you to take pictures of what it looks like with the damage. Kind of like a what not to do thing for the guys with this coming up on their DIY list. Sounds like you were working in the dark on this one...at least you made out better than Trippin'.

I'm like Allon, I leave that safety shit to the pros man!

This isn't the 1st time i've installed lowering springs. I've done so in my last 3 cars (one was a 2nd gen TL) but this one was the most difficult of the 3.

It's kind of hard to explain. I didn't use the way the acura instructions say. Instead of compressing the spring shock assembly I tried to take a short cut and take it out with out compressing it, and to do that you have to pull down on the brake assembly, and I guess I pulled a little too hard and ripped the CV joint out of the socket.

I tried to take a shortcut and got fucked in the end. Lesson WELL learned.

Just curious, did this shortcut help when you were working on your past three cars.

Sorry. Still doesn't make sense to me. But, whatever. Glad you are able to get it fixed and sorry you had trouble.

Here are Service Manual Scans for the "Acura" way to do it:
