Got a switchblade key, now I need to program it...

Hello -

I have an 05 TL and I just purchased this key on eBay.

So far it is going OK. I was able to get the remote to work and also able to get the key cut so that it goes in the doors and unlocks the door but it won't start the car. How do I program the immobilizer chip without paying the dealer $100+?

I used these instructions to program the remote but that did not program the key. Any help here is greatly appreciated! THANK YOU!

If you have the know-how, you can swap the chip from your working key, get it done at the dealer, or send it in to Heeltoe for a hundred bucks. http://www.heeltoeauto.com/Fastline-...-pr-64771.html

$100 sounds like a lot! I have the key, its already cut, the remote is programmed. I just need the key chip itself programmed.

i got the key for $60 (minus 10% bing cash back) and paid $1.90 to have it cut. It came with free instructions to program the remote. I just need to figure out how to program the KEY fob itself.

Try your local locksmith. I checked a place here in Houston that cost 35.00 for the key, cutting and programming so your best bet would be to call a few local locksmiths. BTW how is the quality of the switchblade?

Just remember that when you take the key to get it programmed, you have to get all of your keys done at the same time (and don't forget the valet key if you have it).

I think that transponder only sends a signal when your remote start is activated. The car wont start without getting the new key programmed along with the rest of the keys like arrogant mentioned.

I am pretty sure you are correct. I disassembled the flip key (yes, descent amount of work!) and removed the immobilizer chip. After doing this, I still couldn't start my car even with the remote starter key hidden in my dash. I guess I am going to have to head to the dealer to get this key programmed
