I got rear ended 3 days after i picked up my Brand New TL Type S by a woman that had a busted out rear window. Luckily she had the old buick that had the huge bumper guards on the front and all it did was barely scratch the paint. I got her insurance information (along with a police report) and called my insurance company told them what happen and they took care of it from there.
yes the body shop fixed the scratches at her expense. Without looking at the pics i don't know if they will fix the trunk or replace it. If its too bad MAKE SURE they USE NEW OEM ONLY!!! i wouldn't settle for used junk. If you have a deck lid spoiler on the car now then you will have one after the fact. If you don't now then talk to the manager and have them get you one
yea just let your insurance company know that you were involved in a accident and the other person is at a fault. They will ask you for all the info plus the police report and they will even call the police department for more info. They will also contact the person involved. From there they will get your car fixed immediately and then go after the insurance company to get reimbursed.
Haha NO thanks! Im a project manager for a Telecommunications business and i will just stick with that! Anyways the picture you see on there is this
Rota G Force 2 ( yes yes i know cheap wheels)

OP, make a claim against the Yukon driver's insurance company. That's first. Then, after that get's done, you can go get a rv rental.
ya hope fully you can also request the class of rental and you can ride in style
wow everyone is getting it in the ass o_O....i got rear ended last week and the dude just broken my type-s rear lip and gave me $300 on the spot to fix it...i was nice cuz he was a fellow acura driver...i could of been a bully and asked for more but i just told him i need $300 for the lip cuz it broken the bottom mesh cut out part
ok my first attempt today i called their insurance claim dept. Because when i called mine they said i should call theirs so i wouldnt pay anything out of pocket and they are sayin they havent spoken to the owner of the yukon yet. and i was waitin all day and they never called me back!
i also thought yesterday that since they might replace my rear bumper i should get a a-spec rear lip and a bumper out of the whole "claim" thing someone last night gave me some good advice "pearl" lol i was wonderin if anyone else has an opinion on this?
really i didnt know you can do that, have you done it before, im wondering since its going through their insurance i wonder if they will still let me choose a class im not sure they would considering its their insurance.
i also wonder how long they will let me have a rental? would they let me use the rental for the whole time being in the shop?

wow that's weird considering my insurance company told me that they would go ahead and fix my car and they would go after the other insurance company to get reimbursed... They did it that way so i could get back in my car ASAP!
I would call my insurance company back and talk to someone different

You should always attempt to deal directly with the at-fault driver's insurance company before ever speaking to your own insurance company. Depending on your state laws, even calling your own insurance company to tell them can be considered a claim. I made that mistake once.....even though the other insurance company ended up paying, since I called Allstate (my ins co) first it counted as a claim against me and they chose to not renew me at the end of the year.
Only involve your own insurance if you are not getting anywhere with the other company.

alright today i got a call from their insurance company early in the fu**** morning and they say that they will repair it and also im on their select program with a rental car for the time being...
i said i wanna choose to go to my body shop of choice, so then she said ok no problem we will send a gesture out to appraise your vehicle, so then ok she said it would take up within 2 buisness days. then that was done.
so then i went to get my car estimated just so i know where i stand and get some ideas and see if i can get a a-spec out of this, at a dealer body shop and they estimated to REPAIR TRUNK,REPLACE BUMPER WITH AFTER MARKET,NEW EMBLEMS,PAINT, etc. for 6 days in the shop for around 1500
REPLACE BUMBER WITH AFTERMARKET? F*** that i want OEM LOL so imma wait for the gesture to come out and appraise my car. And let him know i want everything oem and replaced like how it was before it was wrecked with a puppy face
so today i called a guy i know at a local acura store and say how much for a a-spec lip and oem bumper
he said,
OEM BUMPER THAT NEEDS TO BE PAINTED $219 ORIG PRICE: $305
A-Spec REAR LIP $230 ORIG PRICE:$330
i was like sweet ill come pick it up when i get the check
no i dont have picutres yet its rally not bad i went to one place they estimated like 1500 to repair the trunk replace the emblems which i dont want back on and replace the bumper with aftermarket which im not doin im goin oem.

There are pros and cons to going to your own shop instead of one that insurance company chooses.
Pros for your own:
- May have an established relationship with a good shop
- Get to do custom stuff (a-spec, etc)
Pros for ins shop:
- Insurance company mediates any complaints/issues you have and guarantees work for life
- Any changes/discoveries of additional work/damage are automagically covered with no hassle
I went through this for 2 accidents in my previous car (none my fault). Both times I took it to the ins recommended shops which were well known in the area and had good reputations. Both times my car required way more work than the initial quotes (ex $6500 est, $11500 out the door....for a f'ing Cavalier). Both times my car went back at least 2-3 times after discovering flaws in the paint or something else that wasn't quite right. Since I had gone where the ins company asked me to go, I had absolutely no hassles on getting a rental car each time it went back in, nor did I get any hassles about the extra costs. Even when the body shop complained about my nit picking, the ins company stood behind me and told them to fix my car correctly and make me happy.
Now if I had gone to my own body shop I'm sure it would have worked out fine, but I would have had to deal with re-submitting all of the updates with the ins company for the additional costs. As well as if the body shop would have told me to go away and stop being picky....that would be the end. The insurance company mostly washes their hands of it once they cut you the check.

Also...on the aftermarket stuff. Since this is not your insurance company you are dealing with, you should be able to mandate OEM with no issue. The only time I accepted anything else was for like the bumper core and such which is not visible. Everything else I always mandated OEM.
If it was your own insurance....well you are at their mercy there. Many of them will tell you that your contract with them states that you will accept salvage and aftermarket unless there is a fitment issue.

so should i turn in my 2200 dollar estimate to the insurance company?
oh yea the adjuster said that it will take up to 2 buisness days and i can go to any body shop i like
Got rear-ended by a Tahoe about 1.5 months ago. Here's my experience:
- called my insurance (AAA)the next day, opened a claim for me (just for record purposes),they said they will get in touch with the other party's insurance, that it's not my fault and it won't affect my insurance rate;
- sent car to body shop for estimate; then a few days after adjuster from other party's insurance went to body shop, determined my car as a total loss (I learned from the body shop that if the initial estimate on the damage was around 60-70% of the car's market value, some insurance companies would rather declare total loss to save on unexpected repairs (they also get money from salvage company who buys the car)
- got the check for the car and bought me a '07 TL Type S
- rentals are based on similar market values; it ends when your car gets fixed; in my case it ended when I got the check (bastards won't give me a couple of days to find a replacement)
