got a new battery installed

i just got a new battery installed at sears, mine for some reason died. is 4 years typical for a battery to die? also i payed 128.06 at Sears for installation of a new battery plus i gave the guy a 3 dollar tip so in turn i paid 131.06, how much do u think or around would the dealerships have charged. i got the Die Hard Gold battery from Sears they were pretty friendly.

the dealer would not charge less than $150... although I am confused why you couldn't install the battery yourself...

Mine died earlier this month. It was 1 month shy of 3 years. I installed an Interstate battery for $99.

4 years is good for a battery. I replaced mine at 3½ years when it randomly gave me hard starting and tested out at about 300 CCA. Winter was just around the corner and I didn't want to get stuck. Went to Walmart and got the yellow Everstart Maxx, rated a Best Buy in Consumer Reports. Around $70 with trade-in and 800 CCA versus the OEM battery's 550 CCA. Installed it myself, works like a charm!

i would have installed it myself, but there was battery acid everywhere, all over the cargo bay and all over the battery, i hadn't been home in a few month's so i didn't know what the car had been through. and i just didn't know what was going on, i knew the battery died, so i jump started it with my trickle charger, and brought it to sears, i figured 12.99 for installation saved me the hassle of getting dirty and if anything were to happen theyd be responsible.

I'm at 38k and recently tested the battery and it's about time to replace it. I'll go to Sears as well. It's the only thing I go to Sears for
