got bass?
Put this 10" bad boy in today and now got bass. Ran power cable from battery to trunk easier than I thought. Tapped into the stock subwoofer wiring and wired in a line level converter which also has a remote power lead to turn on the amp. Full body bass release. Life is good. Say hi to the kids for me.

have you ever had those annoying noise makers stop next to you or behind you and all you hear is that deafening "thump, thump, thump"? Then you look around and see all others staring at that little useless mini truck with the tail dragging on the ground. Yeah, thats what mega bass is good for - annoying everyone else with blurring noise. What ever happened to clarity? I guess I'm getting old because I just don't get it.

actually as a serious audiophile having a large woofer with a lot of power is a good thing. That doesn't mean you have to rattle the neighboorhood. Having a larger woofer work less is a good thing.
If the bass is properly blended with the other 5 speakers it will just play cleaner and deeper. But for sure when folks run the sub super hot that it overpowers everything else then its a waste.
IMHO.
nice install, nice work.

So, how does it sound with the ski access cover closed? Maybe you could make a nice mesh "speaker cover" and market your design. Now that you mention it, the trunk access has many oportunities: wet bar, espresso maker, gamecube and controller access, mini-fridge, microwave, book shelf, stinky gym bag depo, tv (just have to add bigger rear view mirror), garbage dump, etc., etc. We need Acura to put some power outlets back there in the trunk!! Any more ideas?

why do you guys hate on modifications? people should be able to make their car however they want to. it's not your car, it's theirs.
extra bass helps in all types of music. not just rap. my civic has 1200+ in stereo equipment and i listen to indie rock to rap to 40s swing and everything sounds great. i don't disturb anyone with the bass and the underpowered system in the TL could use a nice subwoofer to replace that 8 or 7 or whatever's in there.
oh, and i don't ski.

Hey that's my subwoofer you guys are talking about. Yeah I love to go BOOM WHACK BOOM BOOM WHACK. If you don't like it move to Antartica. I love to set off car alarms, relish watching children fleeing and falling off their bikes screaming for their mommies, and it's so endearing to see old folks clutching their hearts and gasping for air as they tip over their walkers whenever I cruise by. Don't worry I'm sure I can revive them with my rolling bass chamber. I got my amp maxed and glowing red hot when I'm on. I got so many body panel rattles from all the flexing and my windshield got a crack from the concussion. My neighbors got their hate on for me and my ride. They just don't understand the need for the lows. But it's all good. I going to upgrade to a couple of 12"s in a ported box soon with a 1000 watt amp all from JC Whitney and then I'll really be a law unabidding baaaaad man hated by all.
Yeah I got my bass on when I get my roll on. Bring it on.

Hey groper,
When you did the install, did you have a hard time finding a spot in the firewall to run the power cable thorugh? I didn't want to even try to install my sub on my own, so I took it to a car audio shop. I was there the whole time and it took them almost 2 1/2 hours to run the power cable. They kept telling me that they couldn't find a place in the fiurewall to run it.
I kept telling them that there is a spot and they need to keep looking. They finally got it through and now I got the little extra bass I wanted.
