Good news on the Tire issue
I just got off the phone with my dealer. They told me the problem is abundant and that the "new" TL's arriving NOW off trucks are coming with a different tire. I'm having mine replaced next Monday "NO CHARGE".

Is there going to be a service bulletin? Or is this just something your dealer is doing for you? I have been working this problem for a month with my Service Manager and he has no info.

They are not getting replaced with Michelin Pilot Sports.. you can upgrade to the pilot sports if you like, but they are replacing them with some other tires.. Just got off the phone with a friend that works for a local Acura Dealer..

I just called my service manager to let him know about this "rumour" so he can see if he can substantiate it. I hope you're right, Jimmy. If not, then this thread is just a waste of our time. We shall see.

I am simply stating the facts.. you got the dealership to swap the tires for you.. Woohoo... but dont make it seem like everyone on here is gonna be able to get it, because they're not.. The dealership/service department just wants to make you happy with your purchase and keep you as a customer, so they feed you some bull****... and ordered some tires for you... thats pretty much it.. the new TL's are not coming with new tires.. they are still shipping with the same pieces of **** that were on them when teh first TL's hit the showrooms. The only way your gonna get better tires is if you replace them yourselves or upgrade to A-spec wheels or aftermarket wheels.... thats all im saying :thefinger: back at you
but congrats none the less for getting them to replace them for you..

Waitaminute. Instead of fighting, we need to be working together. Jimmy, just verify the info when you get your car on Friday. Everybody else, maybe Customer Care hasn't a clue yet. And acuraddict and his dealer have been a source of info in the past, maybe he can verify the info.
If it's just a local dealer swap, then that's all it is and we can all go on in peace.

Your dealer never actually told you this, did they?

That being said, maybe he's too stupid to realize or know that some TL's come with these tires...your guess is a good as mine.
I regret even starting this tread. You guys are unbelievable.

The spec sheet and the brochure both say the tire alternatives for TLs are Touranza or Potenze. The A-Spec quotes Yoks. So, where does it say any TLs come with any kind of Michelins???

Guys, I'll eat one of the damn things if they trade Michelin Pilot Sports for the EL42s. A set of Pilot Sport A/S at a tire dealer would top $1100. No Chance. I didn't choose them in my self paid upgrade because they were so expensive. Damn near the most expensive tire on the market. >$50 @ more than my F1s.

Waiting...
Cannot anyone give Jimmyz some time to figure it out?
I believe his dealer may work out their own deal to help thier customers, which is great for those buying cars out there.
Everyone should remember there was another member in Maryland ever enjoying this kind of tires replacement a month ago. The news of new Michelin tires was a shock to us at that time, right? His dealer did the great thing to their clients, too.
My dealer does provide 18" Continental tires in addition to orginal 18" tires from Bridgestone and Yoko. As long as dealers are willing to pay, no one can blame their customers who of course enjoy those great benefits. I believe he was just sharing his happiness with us.
Please make calls to ACS and your dealer. Perhaps, your dealer would come out with something new.

I brought my TL in for the 1500 mile service today, at 2000 miles.
I had a brief conversation about the tires with the head of the service department when I saw they were delivering a new TL today with the EL42s. He said they were becoming quite a headache with all of the complaints. He also said that the TLs would soon be getting different tires from the factory.
I have no details beyond the above.
I don't know if he is correct, but I can state with certainty that we had the conversation, and that I have every confidence in his integrity.
As an aside, my car was delivered with Blizzak LM22s ($800 value w/mounting) instead of the EL42s, but that was a special situation that has no application here.
