Getting My 06 'Ac TL Next Monday (RBP/Parchment/6MT/Navi- Tint question please help!!

So the dealer swap worked, I'll be getting the ONLY 06TL Royal Blue/Parchment, Navi/Stick in the ENTIRE NY/NJ/CT Area...its mine alll mineeeeeeeeeee muhahahah!!! coming monday for delivery

I'm getting my tint done from the dealer, what should I get???? I don't want to F- up the navigation??? don't want ghetto look, want some good color to the window, some privacy but clean professional look...no more ghettoness, thus no more 20% tint..so my 06TL RBP/Parchment Navi/6mT is being delivered next monday, but I need to tell them what kind of tint etc...should i go 35 or 50? will 35% make the car look "ghetto" with RBP being such a beautiful but dark royal blue?

with the navigation, if they used normal 3M film, will that cause issues with the navi? what do i need to tell them to use? please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As long as you're not using metallized tint, the navi/GPS will be fine.

35% is not ghetto tint IMO by the way. Is it legal in NY state? It is here in Ohio (on all except windshield and front windows).

thanks boss - to be honest I believe 35% (meaning 65% light passing through) is Legal...have 20% on my 1998 honda civic, done with the ghetto young look lol

so I think i'll go with 35%...50 is just too light?

I got mine from the dealer also...06 NBP...camel interior in NY...I did 35% legal limit in NY and used a dark smokey color it looks great with the camel interior. Had some bubbling issues and they redid it.....still some small ones but I am looking hard to find problems as no one sees the blemishes until I point them out. Make sure it comes out well...for some reason the TL is hard to get a perfect tint from what I'm reading. On my old 03 TL Type S WDP Parchment...my tint was done from same place with no problems at all. Also is it normal to have very little space where the defrost lines are in the rear window tint......Again you can only notice if you are looking for it like I am but I want a perfect vehicle cosmetically as I guess we all are in love with our new TL's.

Actually 35% means 35% of light passes through. What is with people on this board referring to tint backwards?

how does the tint affect the Navigation?

I have 20% tint on my Accord and it's a pain to drive at night, It's difficult to check for possibly crossing pedestrians when I drive out of the neighborhood. While i LOVE the privacy it provides, I will be going with 35% on my next car

Window tint, IMO (humble as it is) is a personal choice. In addition to protection, some prefer privacy (dark, 5%-15%), while others prefer aesthetic look (20%-35%). The Tint Center has an article called "6 Reasons To Tint Your Car" and offers to be a good read. The site also provides info and links about window tinting. And No, 35% will not make the car look "ghetto". Where do people get these ideas from?

As far as Navi is concerend, what Nueronbob stated is true and the use of a non metallic film is recommended by Acura. This has been debated numerous times. Again the final choice comes down to you. There are only a few manufacturers of ceramic tint, FI Pinnacle Series and Huper Optik. However, these specialty or HP films do come at a price. 3M offers CS line and was designed and is compatible with onboard electronics like navi. Most of the folks opted for F1 and 3M and a few have used HO.

When I had my Satin Silver 04 TL with navi I had 20 percent tints on mine.. It gave me the ultimate privacy however at night if the NAV screen was to bright it reflected off the glass making it hard to see when pulling out into a street at night. I have 35 percent on my new rl and it works great and still looks it.. I read that article in the manual about the window tinting but my TL never had any trouble at all with the tints.. Its really just the look you want.. Congrats on the new TL hope you love it as much as I loved mine..

Congrats on your excellent choice! Your car is very rare indeed. I just picked-up my 06 RBP /parchment/ wood/Navi/ 6MT in July, and there is only one more just like it still for sale on the west coast. (Believe me, two brokers and I checked every dealer in CA, OR, WA, NV, UT, CO and AZ). I hope you'll love it as much as I do. Haven't gotten to tinting the windows yet, but I'm glad you posted. Best of luck with your sweet new ride!
