Gauge mod

I was wondering if anyone has modded the gauges so the numbers and what not dont come on when you start the car.. basically what i want is my gauges to look liek this while im driving

and have a switch possiably to turn the numbers back on...
I did a search and didnt find anything so i assume it hasn;t been done, so i might go ahead and be the first to try it, if anyone has any helpful tips please feel free!

so when the cop that pulls you over says "do you have any idea of how fast you were going" you can say "look officer there is something wrong with my gauges and the numbers are gone! i was on my way to get it fixed..." then you hope they let you off with a warning

You will have better quality of responses if you post your question in the "Audio, Bluetooth, Electronics & Navigation" section.

No one has any idea what direction to point me? I'm sure they must be on two seperate switches, or something the way that they can only be turned on as is? possiably relays? or computer controlled (in which case would be difficult)

It's not relays because all of those gauge lights can be dimmed - not possible with a straight up relay. I think you're hosed : /

it's a very simple thing to do, and i could very easily give you instructions of what to do, but i will not instruct you on something this stupid and pointless.

well without my approval you won't get any instructions. anything that can put someone in danger, and come back to bit me in the ass is something i learned to not take part in anymore.

a little common sense, and knowledge about LED's is all you need to do this

Not gona knock you nova. People do strange things for different reason. Like some of the peeps here.
Most of them have perfectly good working 17” rims but they go and drop 2k on wheels. to each his own is what I say, some brilliant idea come from people that think out of the box. Good luck with your mode man. Hope it works out for you.

syer.

rbf351 would know how to do it, i have seen pics of dismantled gauges that he posted. realisticly, all you have to do is find the power supply that feed the numbers and install an inline switch. i wouldn't advise you to do this mod, but it can be done.

Thanks... Thats what i figured i was gonna have to do, i was wishing there was a little simplier method, maybe just pulling one plug, fuse, something, but i dont think its that easy.. I dont understand why every one doesnt recoment it, i can tell how appox. fast im going with no gauges at all (i have a manual) ... I'm gonna have no problem reading the gauges with no numbers, plus i really like how it looks when you first unlock the doors, so thats why im doing it! you dont like it and dont say anything

if you want to help, its greatly appricated

For me, I drive a fast as I feel (weather factors, traffic permitting, speed trap areas, how well I feel, etc). However, the speedometer is NOT a factor in deciding how fast I drive. The ONLY exception is if I "smell" a speed trap (rarely happens), then I will have the speedometer dictate my speed.

Same with the tach. The engine is going to spin as fast as I decide to push my foot down. The tach does Not dictate the RPM I drive.

I will glance at the speedo and/or tach IF TRAFFIC PERMITS, but I am looking at the them for "shits and grins". The readings has no influence on my actions.

Well, another exception is if I hit 100 MPH with WOT. Then I will consult the speedo to verify that I am indeed at 100 MPH. Then, it is time to get out of the throttle because this is my self-imposed limit. However, I can tell when I hit a 100 MPH because this is when the trans shifts into the dreaded 4th gear ("The Wall").
