Got some emblems back.

Okay guys and gals. I finally got the emblems back. For one thing, he did the rears one shade and the fronts a lighter shade. I guess he misunderstood me, oh well.

So these are just test emblems.

Let me say right now that I am not going to be a vendor.

I am not going to sell these. I am merely just trying to find someone that can black chrome them for us.

If you decide to send them to this guy you will be doing it at your own risk, as you can see the mishap that has already happened with me.

But the guy was pretty cool, I told him he might be getting more.

So we discussed how he should do them. He said he could do so many different kinds of tints to them. So I decided to go with a blueish tint. So here they are.

This first pic kinda sucks....sorry

He sent them back to me C.O.D. (didn't really understand that) but he doesnt take credit cards.

So if you're interested heres the link. I bought the emblems from Tim@hondacuraworld and sent them here:

http://www.atlaschrome.com/aboutus.htm

Alex charged me about 20 bucks an emblem to do. So there ya go.

They are not that bad Ethan, being they are all the big A's - they are far enough apart that it really wont show given the different angles they are mounted at. Given a first run...he is likely to get more consistent with em the more he did I would think...not sure. Look ok to me more or less.....I would say good job man!

looking good the fornts look like a bronzish color while the rears look more of a gunmetal color.

lol.......thanks Mike. Yeah Im pretty happy with them.

Its just hard to take good pics at night. I think during the day you would be able to see them much better.

The blue on the smaller emblems is really deep, looks really nice...

So how much do we pay you to do this again??

Hey Trance man, that bluish tint one will go hella good with my NBP! Damn I like that! Sounds like an emblem group buy coming up...I'm in for sure!

I know you don't wanna be a vendor, but what are you going to do with those test pieces? Hint, hint!

well Im not sure yet, the test pieces really didnt come out the way I was hoping they would.

I really dont want to be a vendor darksom. Its just not worth it. I would much rather just be the guinea pig right now. Then find something you all like, get with Alex and maybe give him a heads up.

This is a small shop, its funny, some old lady keeps answering the phone. its painful to get this guy on the line. But hes pretty easy to talk to once you get him going...

Guy in background: Who is it Ma?

Mom: Well I can find out if you shut the hell up! Oh, it's another person for one of those "A" things you got all over the place! Clean this mess up cuz my bridge team is coming over tonight!

Ill have to check with Tim, shit with as many as Ive bought you'd think I remember.

I think the rears were 17 and the front was like 11 or 12 bucks.

So figure 30 for buying and 40 for chroming.

$30/40 is not bad. Cheaper than the switchblade key I bought!

When you said he will do different colors, did you mean colors that WE give him, or colors that he has a template for? That has me thinking that I can really give my ride a fucked up or very nice look! Hmm...

well I sent him this pic. These are what I have on my car now.

he told me, "well, I can do it with a brownish tint like that or I can do a blueish tint"

I told him to go blue. So he said he would do a dark one and a light one. So it was just different shades that he was saying he could do...

I dig em...
Ever seen the TL-S tails up close? How close of a match is it to that black/blue chrome?

Looks like a perfect match from these pics... and that would rule.

I want to send my headlight internal and front grill off if he can make all those pieces match the TL-S tails.

I edited my first post and put his link in there.

http://www.atlaschrome.com/aboutus.htm

Give him a call, his name is Alex. Just tell him that "the guy who sent you the emblems just told everyone about it" LOL

Dont know what he'll charge or how long it will take. Im just happy I found somebody that will plate plastic.

Its really hard to find Chroming places these days with all the chemicals they use and the EPA standards.

All of this looks real good. I stumbled upon that website a while back and was thinking about getting in touch with them to see what they can do with the emblems...now I know. How long was the turn around for the emblems you sent in?

it was a while, but I wasnt in a hurry. Plus they said it was really cold at times which prevented them from doing them..

Yes, it is hard to find compaines that will chrome plate plastic. You have to be resourceful to find these companies, but props to you for finding your own way of getting it done.

I have some plastic pieces that I had chromed, which are in transit on their way back to my house right now. I got them done from Chrome Pros Plating. Turnaround time was painstakingly long; from what I understand, though, that is the nature of the business.

Very good. I sprayed mine with duplicolor graphite and clear and am happy with them but these are much better. Would be interested in one for the front if I can figure out how to put it on. Makes a big difference on WDP

I've been thinking and it seems like this won't really work on NBP. Seems it will not produce much of a contrasting effect, if at all. Might get lost in it, except for maybe the grill. Like it's more suited for silver or white. Lighter colors. What do you guys think?

I agree. It probably wouldn't quite as cool on black as it would on white.

Wow Trance, just saw this thread! Should have pointed it out to me! :P

Anyways, man I want some bad. Not sure what color to go with on my WDP though. I would also like to get the Acura and TL on the rear chromed the same way.

Hmmmmmm what to do.

I'd really like to see this on a NBP. I am really interested in it. The contrast on the lighter colors would really stand out. However on the NBP it's a little more of a stealth mode with a small amount of pizazz. I'm just not sure which tone would be the correct one. I'm thinking the blue toned (darker one) from the pics.

The bluish one is the one that interests me. But if I was to do it, I think I would want my grill done the same color. Hey, bluish-black grill/emblem would be just like our car paint or a damn close blend! What do you think about that Buda? Our cars are similar. Think it will work?

I just gotta convince myself to make that call to his mom...I think I will 2morrow!

I think it might. It's what I was thinking. If I go that route it means a debadging for me and doing the following in blue/black chrome:

Front and rear A emblems
Silver trim above license plate
Front grill including strip on the hood.

Do you think that would look good? How far are you wanting to go with it darksom1?

LOL! You sound just like when you were doing that model of ours!

But you know what? I went outside and looked and I think it will look nice as hell! Let's do it! I'm going to call that guy tomorrow and ask for a quote. We know the emblems prices, we just need to know the rest. I will let him know he has at least two of us interested and we want a two-fer quote unless we have some more guinea pigs who want it...let us know!!

By the way, I was doing the de-badging in two weeks anyway.

Yeah, will do! My other call has to be to find out what it will cost to get the parts. I can either go ebay, Tim @ Honda, or Acura OEM quote ala Rosenthal (my dealer). Or combination of them all. Damn! This feels good! And addictive! Ahhh...what the hell...some people rob banks right? LOL!

Let you know when I know...which better be tomorrow!
