Gas tank question for 07 Tl owners
At what point does your gas meter start dropping from when you fill it up to full. My meter seemed to already start to waiver at about 15 miles which seems extremely fast to me. Anyone else?

I noticed the same thing. I drive to work about 20 miles and it's below the 1st (top) notch most of the time.
What happened to the days when you'd fill up and the needle would stay pegged for 3 days before starting to move down.. Oh yeah, that was GM. I miss the 'no worries in the world with a full tank of gas' feeling.

Yeah...everybody's does. We are all used to filling up, going a 100 miles before it drops and then falls like crazy after half. Some here say that Acura's is just an accurate one. Who knows, but it does freak you out at first

I think each of the little bars is less that 1 gal. We have a 17 gal tank and there are more than 20 marks on the gauge. At a little over 20 mpg, it makes sense that the gauge would move early.
You are right though, it is spooky having a gauge that actually works.

lol you guys are too funny. I remember my dad's 93 honda accord which we would fill till you could see the gas almost spilling out of the tank. From that point, it would take almost 150 miles before it even broke the full mark. But I guess it does make sense if you do the math at 20mpg why it would move after the first 20.

If you fill up your tank completely, the needle will stay full for the first 80 to 100 miles, depending on your driving. When filling up your tank, the first time the pump triggers and stops, you can slowing and carefully continue filling the tank, up to ~3 gallons. I do this every time with my TL and Accord. The TL tends to fill with slightly less than 3 gallons after the initial stop. I play it safe and only add 2.5 more gallons to avoid any spills. It takes an additional 5 minutes to completely fill your tank. To me it's worth it because I fill up every 2 weeks or so vs. 10 days.

yeah its a huge difference when i had my 98 honda accord...it had 180k miles but hell once it was filled up, the gauge needle seem to never move after 100 miles or so..as for my tl..it drop so much it scares me to drive due to the rising cost of gas.
fill up every 2 week?! u must not drive ur tl that much than..it takes me about 6-9 days til it run low..roughly drive 40-70 miles a day

Safety Car
check this out I have the service manual for the car and Im sure when people decide to fill up its about the usual 14 gallons maybe a lil tiny bit more.....the size of the TL tank is 17 gallons!!!!!! that means when the light turns on u have another 3 gallons to drink up. and the gas doesnt finish til that dial goes below the line and hits the bottom... I give honda 2 thumbs up for being MORONS.

I drive about 500 miles a week, and usually fill up just before the 45 mile commute home, so I'm not over-filled for long. The extra 2 - 3 gallons equates to another day's worth of driving, allowing me to go a week on a tank. Since 90% of my driving is on heavily patrolled 55 mph roads, 30 mpg is no problem.
I've been warned, threatened, chastised, etc. over this practice, but I've been doing it in every car I have ever owned without a problem, including the last four I've purchased since 2002.
Chalk it up to starting my driving career in the mid-70's during two gas crises. The nightmare of the after affects of Katrina - limited availablility and very long lines, just reinforced the habit.
I'm not recommending the practice, just reporting that it isn't problem for me, or a number of people I know who do the same thing.
