Why'd this get bumped?

Truth is the G35 is better. You can drift the RWD going forward. The TL will only drift in Reverse.

BUT, with the G35x AWD you can drift IN BOTH DIRECTIONS.

Drift in both directions >>> Drift in one direction.

And I have an automatic so I can only imagine how much worse it is if you have an MT. I've been driving FWD cars for the last 15 years and have really gotten used to it, but I now I understand why people love RWD. But living in the midwest, there's no way I'd ever want RWD. I really like the AWD on the G35. I've never driven the RL, but I really don't like the fact that under normal circumstances 70% of the power goes to the front wheels. The G35 never sends more than 50%. Plus the engine has some real kick. But of course the TL beats the G35 by all other measures. The TL looks better both inside and out, has a better stereo, Nav System, felt roomier, better ergonomics, etc. Even the Infiniti salesguy admitted that if Acura ever put AWD on the TL, that would be one awesome car and would really shake up that whole market segment. I really hope Acura puts AWD on the next TL and I hope the AWD is a true AWD, not one that's FWD and sends power to the rear only when it needs it.
I think the O.P. should maybe do a little more investigation on SH-AWD. The RL AWD sytem will put the AWD system in the G35 to SHAME. The fact that it will actually accelerate the outside rear wheel to help it grip in a turn is AMAZING. If the TL get's this AWD system on a sportier platform than the RL than there will be Absolutley NO competition! Crap, even the MDX and RDX handle amazingly given their height and utility.

You do realize that the AWD system is about 250lbs heavier. The TL and G35 are already pigs...you want them even heavier? I wish the next generation TL was RWD and 200lbs lighter....that would be more compelling that AWD and 4000lbs.

If u have never driven the G--you have to. I am not comparing reliability or luxury--that car is a hot rod. I swear you will not stop grinning. I don't know about the last gen G but the current one drives freakin' awesome. Don't get me wrong...I love my TL but unless Acura fixes the FWD arrangement I'll be jumpin' ship in a couple years and handing her down to my wife.

The accelerating device on SH-AWD allows the rear axle to be overdriven by 5%. The ATTESA-ETS system that Infiniti uses, is also setup to overdrive the rear axles by 5%. It just happens to start out predominantly RWD.

As far as accelerating the outside wheels..... In a turn, with an open-diff, the outside wheel is always the wheel that is accelerating.

As much as the SH-AWD helps the handlnig of the RL, the RL still managed to lose to the M45 in the skidpad, in C&D's comparo.

If you think the MDX handles amazingly, you should test drive an FX.
